Judging by the more spectacular cows (Chris, ParkourDude91, MonicaPunk, Joe Cracker, just to start...) it seems that a common thread is that they're all really gullible, if not outright stupid. Is this a trend? Any cows actually manage to be completely batshit crazy, and still be halfway smart?
 
Yeah, all lolcows are fairly stupid. They might be bright in some specific areas, but as has been discussed on the 'what makes a lolcow?' thread the uniting factor behind lolcows from SJWs to Chris is a complete inability to look introspectively. Which is a trait of the :stupid:

They seem to be a product of 1) inflated sense of self importance. and 2) bad/neglectful parenting during formative years.

Lolcows seem to have this idea that they are always right 100% of the time no matter what. If the sky is blue they say its red they are right and you should be arrested for arguing with them.

Chirs, Moleman, Jace, sammy all seem to have these characteristics.

I asked a question today in the feed "where are the parents in all this"

And my fears were proven most answered 1) the parents do not know, or 2) to old to care or something along those lines.

alot of the cows use autism as an excuse for everything (hi chris chan :tomgirl:)

they learned this from lazy parents and a lazy system that instead of training the person at a young age they let them get away with everything because "derp my child is a snow flake special and perfect no teacher or counselor is gonna hurt my baby"

I dunno i could be very wrong and just plain ignorant on the issue, when i see the lolcows i think "what a waste" it almost seems like if they had parents who would have been more like parents and less like :snorlax: they may have had a chance to be semi normal....

Maybe i am to hopefull maybe i am just full of shit..

I just relate them to a computer that has a memory gpu and cpu capable of playing decent games only being used by an old man to play solitaire :)

Autism diagnosis seems to be banded around and give like a badge of honour for anybody that fits a box, not that it is not a good thing for the children who are, years ago they would have been put into special homes. But unfortunately the lazy parents use this as an excuse for their special snowflake, and to probably make excuses for their bad behavior as said above. The thing is not all autistics are like this, I know lots of them that are very different, and actually have really good parents.
 
Some of these guys may score pretty high on the IQ test. But this doesn't say much about their ability to get along in life. Some people have a very high IQ but still fuck up because of an over-inflated ego, lack of insight into how the real world works, weird belief systems etc.
 
As I've mentioned elsewhere, this last year my son has been diagnosed with autism. His is pretty mild as it turns out. But I thought it was interesting one of the psychologists we talked to said that generally autistics actually have above average intelligence. Now understanding social norms and appropriate behaviors is very difficult for autistics and I think that actually is the root of a lot of their strange behavior.
 
Ego is more central to the birth of a real lolcow then intellect I would say.

A smart man would realize people are laughing at him but his ego would make him come back time and again to prove he's in the right and its the willingness to fight back that makes a true lolcow.
 
There are so many lolcows out there, some of whom haven't been discovered(yet). If you are looking to pinpoint an exact number, then good luck trying. Stupidity is defined as being dull and boring in Webster's dictionary, while being stupid is lacking normal intelligence or being foolish. Naïveté is being simple minded and too quick to believe something. Stupidity can also be making deliberately bad decisions. In the case of lolcows, it seems that they don't realize that the decisions that they make are bad. Stupidity and Naïveté might intertwine, but there is a distinction.
 
As others have said, more naive than stupid. How do we define stupid? Uneducated? Chris, Pixy, and DF01 all have college degrees. Out of touch with the outside world? TheAmazingAtheist covers current events in many of his videos. Socially out of touch? AFemininePad is actually a socially adjusted man. Ulillilia is weird, but he is kinda a genius.
They're just not used to the internet, while a non-cow might get into an argument online; they realize "wait, I don't even know this guy", close the lab top and walk away. Lolcows must have the last word, why did Moleman9000 return to the forums? Why is Jace here? And Rika? And Tyce? And the Wizards? And the loveshy? And Chris? They're naive and have egos, they want to fight those who disagree with them, and they want to win.

Here's an old saying from the earlier Internet days we must all keep in mind from time to time "Fighting on the internet is like running in the special Olympics, even of you win you're still retarded."

Pretty much all of them. Now, stupidity by itself does not a lolcow make. There are plenty of stupid people in the world who don't embarrass themselves on the internet. But when you combine it with a neurological condition, naivety, a horrendous lack of sexual maturity, economic maladjustment, a lack of authority figures and a webcam, you get disaster.

This. Its very hard to laugh at someone that is at least somewhat aware of how stupid or loser-like they are. What makes lolcows so funny is that most of them aren't aware of how funny they are.
 
I think it really comes down to what you define as being stupid VS simply being ignorant of reality.

We all know that you can't fix stupid but it is possible to fix ignorance through education and general learning.

Now whether or not they're willing to do so is a different matter entirely but I don't think it's fair to imply one necessarily comes from the other.
