How many squirrels would you have to see in a day to mention it to someone?

I have too fucking many! I cut down 8 nests in '24, and they just build more. My house has the best oak trees on the street, so it results in monthly "turf wars". Those little fuckers sound like herds of elephants running across my roof, on the days they decide it's time to fight.

I used to live in a place where seeing upwards of five squirrels in a day was a common occurrence and not worth mentioning. Now I live in a place where I don’t see any squirrels, so a one-squirrel sighting has been enough for me to comment on it.
Ah, I do see the error in my way of thinking now. It's all relative to the median of squirrel sightings in a day. Thanks for clearing that up.

i have a bunch of squirrels around my house. i think i counted up to 6 of them at one time trying to get into my bird feeder. sure i saw more of them in teh trees. so im going ot say 8 or 9 would by how many i would need to see before i thought it was worth mentioning.

you didnt ask for turkeys, but i thought id also mention that the number for me is 6. i tend to mention to my dad whenever ive seen 6 or more of them near my house. this last fall i saw 10 of them at once.

for deer it tends to be about the same number.

I'm about to start trapping the fuckers, and relocating them to a park, couple miles away. Been in this house 18 months, and they destroy everything! Especially patio chair cushions! My micro monsters love to chase them, but eat all the debris they bring into the yard, and get sick all the time. Sucks cutting down their nests with a 27' manual pole saw, most nests are 20'+ up. Funny part is when they start screaming, and trying to attack the saw.

You could always use a .22 to clear them out, but it's more humane to relocate the little gremlins. Just don't pull a Rekieta and drown the bastards.

If I didn't live in the city limits, I would my .22. Hard to bring myself to shoot them max strength with my BB gun, will look seriously into relocating. Anyone who goes to cruel lengths to kill wildlife needs to be castrated.

I'm not sure you can even relocate them. It might be one of those animals where if you move them, other ones just come right away and take over the area.
