Now I've known about Chris Chan since I was around 15 and never really cared much about him, but with the most recent happenings, I've been roped into the shitshow that is his life along with the rest of the Internet.
While I'm still no expert on his story and haven't conducted in-depth research on him, I've found out about disturbing details of his life through this forum and the wiki such as claims of him being groomed by his mother, macing a Gamestop employee for no apparent reason, and wanting to run someone over, in addition to all his deluded, schizophrenic ramblings about multiple dimensions, himself being a princess from another world, and being married to his own fictional characters.
It's no secret that Chris is mentally ill, however he shows a set of behaviors that, to my knowledge, couldn't be attributed to autism alone, especially considering he refused psychiatric analysis in the past that could've shed light on the more bizarre aspects of him, perhaps discovering some degree of schizophrenia.
Regardless, we may never know the full extent of Chris's disorders, but I've always been of the idea that Chris was a severely mentally ill individual whose issues were exacerbated by internet trolls, bad parenting and lack of help and treatment, leading to him having the maturity of a 10 year old well into his forties and being barely in touch with reality.
When the latest incident had just happened and the motherfucker saga began, I assumed Chris had just done something out of skewed instinct while not realizing the severity of the act, no different from an aspie throwing a tantrum out in public or a dog fucking a plushie, in fact, it seemed to me that from the leaked conversations, Chris thought he was actually helping his mother.
I thought such an individual would have no idea of the horrible shit he was actually doing and only warranted being taken to the looney house for being out of touch with reality, but many others instead thought Chris deserves the death sentence.
While I disagreed at first, a few posts on here made me question my stance as they elaborated on how Chris's actions with his mother were more deliberate than i had previously thought, such as "warming up" his mother and telling Null not to disclose the conversation to anybody else, and avoiding terms that could outright incriminate him.
Still, with discussions of him being ruled as not guilty for reason of insanity and the likes, a lot of people still clearly think there's a chance Chris gets out of this because he supposedly doesn't have a clue what the fuck is happening.
Regardless of what will happen in any plea deals or in court, what does everyone think?
How much of a grasp do you think Chris has on the ethics of his actions?
Is he just a severely misguided and distorted insane individual committing crimes out of folly or is he actually a just a piece of shit?
