I've only played FFXIV, well long term anyway as I'm sure I played some of the others in demos and the like as a kid, maybe on the old original Nintendo system we had when I was a little kid if it existed on that.

Gameplay of 1, story of 6. PSX version of 2 is best-balanced. I don't think there's much argument for 3, except that it's OST is GOAT-tier. 4's original translation was horrible. 5's job system makes it basically trivial. PSX games are fine unless you value >=24FPS. There's a good argument for 10 being best, but all I have to say to that is HA HA HA HA.

12 and 13 are alright games in their own, but...
