So I'm kind of new here and NZ is blocking KF on account of Null sharing an mass shooting vid with us. Fortunately, I don't live in NZ; but I'm kind of curious as to how often a politician goes full :stress: and blocks us to protect the masses.

And no, China, North Korea, and anything related to the Middle East doesn't count.

Not often. KF usually ain't that important in the minds of country officials. But the world gets crazier and the internet more restrictive every day, so you never know. The Bongistans especially seem to lose their marbles when WikiHow dog pisses on the carpet and won't do what they tell him.

If you're worried and want to be prepared, change your DNS, install Tor, and/or have a VPN.

Or just store up on jars of shit, and if the cops show up, strip and douse yourself with the contents.

To be fair, where I'm from (slight powerlevel later in the passage) the government is slightly lax and the laws tend to focus more on combating the MSM and social media because it's where fake news seep from for 98% of the time. Even so, it doesn't make other websites automatically immune to getting geoblocked. I remembered there were several exceptional parents who decided it was a good idea to lodge complaints to the local commission to ban fanfiction.net to 'protect consumers from being exposed to indecent content which “may be detrimental to the moral fabric of the society”' and obviously it's not positive news to the local fanfic writers.

As long as you keep a low profile, spend a bit on a VPN, and sweep out breadcrumbs from your PC right after putting up something on the Internet, it's safe to say it won't be much of a concern to you to surf the Net smoothly.

[EDIT] jeebus there's so much to edit. sorry about that!

Just use a vpn and you should be fine. I also think an ISP blocked The farms in the U.K a few months back but that was by mistake i believe.

Only problem is that most vpn run on a trial and must be bought later on. (Like nordvpn, protonvpn, vpnvpn... Maybe OpenVPN can be of some use, but I don't how to use it.)
inb4 "crack it": you might be right but it might break it (like cracked antiviruses that lets more viruses than demo AVs.)

Earlier this morning, the ISPs in Ausfailia blocked KF, alongside some other sites supposedly over this whole Christchurch thing. Even changing the DNS won't work on my end, so you'll need a VPN or Tor.
So what about the UK?

Figured that they're next up the chain and they got a stick up their ass when it comes to "offensive content."

I wouldn't put it past them to block anything that sounds remotely 'offensive'. Give it less than 5 years. Those guys are cucked.

Also, my ISP just IP blocked the kiwifarms.is domain. I'm not too sure about that on your end over in NZ.

Edit: Beaten by someone in another thread.

I came across someone posting screenshots of the supposed Optus (AU) blocklist on Twitter.

In Canada my ISP(Cogeco) was giving 502 errors last night which were cured by VPN. Somehow it works again without VPN this morning.

502 errors are caused by KF servers being overloaded and not able to respond to your requests some or all of the time. VPN and geographical origin have no impact on this, but the site does get flood attacks now and then that cause server overloading. Days since last flood attack: 0
