I've recently watched some video about how people became terminally online. Most of you probably already know everything that's being discussed in this video, but I still wanted to share it as an excuse to hear your opinion on the matter of how the Internet became so much of a Retarded, Anti-Privacy, Corporate mess. Or the reasons why you don't agree.

The videomaker talks about many topics, from a brief explanation of how the Internet was born, the dotcom bubble, the social media, and the atomization of society.
Kiwi Farms mentioned at around 25 Minutes. The video maker didn't melted down at the mere mentioning of this forum, and said that "It's a drama forum, they laugh at Lolcows".
The "video" aspects of this video are negligible, you can just hear it like it's some podcast or radio program while you're doing other activities.
Also, I recommend from his channel another video called "Millenial Writing". It was published before the SBI and DEI Writing shitstorm.
I didn't knew where else to write this post, beside the trash can. I'm sorry if it's in the wrong section or if I wasn't able to find the thread that's about the general state of affairs of the Internet.

I got to say people were much less divided before the internet especially. To me, it had such a lasting anxiety on me that I've deleted many social media accounts in the process. It had me fooled to pick side which I've chosen conservative back then and that cringe Alt-Right ideology and it went horribly for me. I used to trust conspiracy theorists who were full of shit as well such as Alex Jones and the Anti-Vaxxer cult. Bear in mind if I were a chosen a path to be a Social Justice Warrior and only believed what the brain dead Antifa cult said, it wouldn't go well for me either. Both the Mainstream Media and the Alternative Media are full of shit. Instead of conspiring to figure out the actual truth of a said topic (9/11, Climate Change, COVID), they instead are more separated bitch fighting over a topic at a time. I've become more liberal now. I still respect anyone on any spectrum so long as they can have a reasonable conversation with me but I've become open minded to both narratives now regardless if Vaccines work or not or if the Earth was some sort of flat plane or not. I just really hate the political division so much.

It's Current Year. I don't think it's ending anytime soon.

also saw that video too:

(this site is mentioned at 23:30 and especially at 24:45)

tl;dw: The internet used to be like a "Wild West" of "nerds" having fun. That was ruined by the internet going mainstream, "social media", and the 'net getting centralized.
