How to calculate your reaction score - sorry josh

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
That's gay. I couldn't care less about the actual reactions, let alone my kiwi karma, but seeing my old posts get bumped does let me know if there is a thread that is having a resurgence, if there is a news on a topic(or a game leak if it's a game thread) or if there is some internal drama going on within that thread. Either way, better than manually going into every subforum to see which ones have active threads I like.
It's also neat to be able to follow someone's progression though a thread just by him reacting to old posts as he goes. Especially with really old drama because I have no idea what made him dig so deep.

Null is one salty boi. How are we supposed to judge post quality now nool? How are we supposed to make good quality posts nuul? You're the one who wants good quality posting and now I can't learn what makes a high quality post good. HE TOOK AWAY MY HECKIN DOPAMINOS :(

When will you niggers learn?

Alright, here’s my bullshit take on this whole situation:

I think that the “Reactions received” page should stay, as it carries multiple purposes that users could find uses of.

Using an argument that having this feature induces dopamine dependency is pretty dull, because nobody is enforced to use it. If you don’t wanna be a Reddit nigger - just don’t check every few minutes for who reacted to your posts. True Reddit niggers would continue doing it through autistically checking the entire post activity from their profile page. It’s like villainizing smartphones over your developed social media dependency and thus downshifting to a T9 cellphone.

As for me, I often use it as a shortcut to get to the forums I’m not watching or a fraction of it that I want to revise. Sometimes I do check how and how many people reacted to my posts, because I wouldn’t bother posting if my contribution carries no informative or comedic value to anyone. Everyone has their own convenient or retarded way of using forums and everyone’s obligated to talk shit on each other for not knowing how to do it best.

As for removing reactions altogether - I genuinely see this happening at some point. I think having madhat and puzzle piece reactions with lolcow emotes is extremely fun and is technically in the spirit of this forum, but it often reminds me of Discord and how virtually every channel there is smeared with collective farm of tiny JPEGs. If Null cares so much about the image of KiwiFarms then I can’t blame him for wanting to keep this place distinct from social platforms with more juvenile UX gimmicks.

Dude let it go
I undertand that looking at stickers flow after you made a good joke, but you got the warnings from null that its not the way to use or a point of the site (all of us get the warning btw)
Its Internet points, they do nothing or worth nothing.

ah well, it was nice while it lasted.

They're useful for getting a community vote on how someone's post is perceived (one that's mostly dumb ratings have a warning that the post may be stupid, for example). Plus it's interesting finding the one butthurt individual that hated a post that everyone else liked.

We just cannot comprehend the genius that is using the forum in the way the Ooperator wants us to. We're too niggerbrained for it.

wait what happened here?

A reaction from the gods of mana? is the dopamine drought finally over? This one spiked my dopamine to such a degree that I'll try for a year to get another one. Beg, grovel, drag my palms through india's excrement, if but for a chance to get one more hit from the react gods.

Yeah this fucking blows, turned it off immediately. Can't even have 9001 MATIs on my profile no mo. :stress:

Regarding their utility, I hope they stay. I find them very useful to gauge the temperature in certain threads or sections on the site that I'm unfamiliar with. They're a good way to "read the room" so to speak. Additionally, I'm sure they cut down tremendously on shitty posts where people would otherwise just call something dumb or agree with someone else.
