I completely forgot to mention, her linework looks very scratchy and unstable, some earlier even thought she was using a mouse, but she confirmed she wasn't. This is especially weird for Paint Tool Sai, since its one of the better softwares for making attractive linework imo. To me it looks a lot like she hasn't installed the tablet's driver and is just using it right out the box. @SamanthaPrater please tell me you installed the driver.

I'm sure she's still locked in a battle of (very dim) wits with whoever this other party is that's been giving her trouble, and before long they'll say or do something that annoys her enough that she comes back in search of a personal army again.

if you really want to improve learn the fundamentals and practice and study
its literally that easy
tracing is fine if you are doing to figure out how something is constructed but dont use it as a crutch
use pictures as a reference not a focus

Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain is a book that explains it best, I think. Basically you must learn to draw what you are actually seeing and not symbols of what you think you see. I believe tracing can sometimes aid you in the transition, but can't change the way you see things by itself.
Also another art kiwi recommended it earlier in the thread.

Shit that's actually a really good way of putting it. Its also part of why I think learning only from tracing can actually be a hindrance. I might check it out myself.
