I'm a retard and generally know jack shit about what I'm doing with technology, so to make my life easier, one of the first things I did when I bought a new laptop with Windows 11 was finding Thisiswin11 and Explorer Patcher to do a quick broad sweep of most of the crap, give me back my legacy menus, and generally fix the interface to at least make it usable. God bless github.
I really should give Linux another shot. I once set up a laptop to dual boot Linux (I think Kubuntu but I forget) way back and tried to learn how to use it but got frustrated and gave up pretty fast. I couldn't do much since I didn't have the foggiest fucking idea how to find whichever device drivers were needed for my computer to recognize the presence of my network adapters so I could connect to the internet. My main motivation for trying Linux was that I hated Vista but I managed to roll it back to XP and didn't care anymore. I've been told it's much more beginner-friendly nowadays if you want it to be, a device without all the bloatware, subscription fees and surveillance is pretty appealing.
