How would you handle the recent Newfag problem of Spring-Summer 2022?

Would you close registration as long as null is or keep it open? What are your ideas of making newfags conform?

This is a problem I've never seen before so I'm curious to how people would handle it. Null's closing of the gates to invite only is a good idea and I have hopes for it, I just am curious about possible answers you'd come up with.

Close public registration for good. Our community can survive off the members we have now. Maybe only allow registration for the future children of two forum members to sustain our population.

Registration without invitation will reduce the site's growth to a trickle and I honestly don't think it is a good thing, but opening the floodgates isn't a good thing either.
I'd add a soft crowd control on the new registrations, something like: max. 10/20/50 newfags a day or registered accounts must be approved before posting (all accounts get approved but only in handle-ble batches).
An additional measure might be limitation-of-posting for the first one/two/three months of an account's existence, like one post a day or an hour cooldown between posts. Again not hard limits, just crowd control which gives people the time to learn forum etiquette

Eh, as much as it's fun to mock newfags, the site's culture acts as a perfect filter for them, as most newfags will just get laughed off of here for being spergs while the ones who are able to stick through it will integrate into the sites culture. I'd use public humiliation as a deterrent. Savage ridicule of newfags would be encouraged. People are obsessed with stickers so I'd have a special sticker that only jannies can give out for when a new user reports a post for bullying. All of the reported posts would be posted in a thread for non-newfags to comment on. Bonus points for any user that gets reported for calling a newfag a racial slur. Old fags using the report feature to report their hurt feelings would be included in the thread for ridicule as well.

Anyone, not just newfags, but anyone using the ignore feature would be banned, and the last interaction they had with the person they ignored would posted in a thread for everyone to see and laugh at how butthurt they got. The person who was ignored would also get an achievement.

All disciplinary moderation actions would also be public and posted to their own thread. Anyone doing stupid shit would be a target, not just newfags.

If any newfag survives the gauntlet of abuse, or keeps their head down until they've lurked for awhile, they'll probably fit in. Only the strong will survive. We will make Kiwi Farms great again. We will build a wall of abuse and make Reddit pay for it.
