How would you have changed or ended your favourite media? - A thread on what you would have done if you were in control of a show/movie/other franchise, avoiding shark jumps and other pitfalls.

Gunslinger Girl is good, but it has a lot of little things that keeps it from being great:
  1. The author has a habit of introducing and forgetting about side characters, then they abruptly show up again volumes later to die or just adding characters out of nowhere to be fodder. The anime did a good job making Elsa a character, I wish other characters like Beatrice got the same treatment.
  2. The Gen 2 cyborg and her handler are boring and hog the spotlight for 3 volumes in the middle of the series.
  3. In the final volume, the author tries to cleanly tie up ALL loose ends in a political thriller story. Which means ass pulls (the Pope's speech stopping the political violence in Italy), last min villains, and an epilogue that is way too long and sappy. Literally just show Triela's daughter saying bye to her mom as she goes to school, everything else was excessive.

Game of Thrones: Arya steals Jaime's face, goes into the Red Keep as Jaime, and kills Cersei. She then opens the door to Jon. Dany makes Jon marry her because IDK he can't keep power without the dragons or some shit like that. Series ends with Jon and Dany unhappily married and Sansa as Warden (not queen) of the North. Bran dies going back to his home planet.

Twin Peaks: End the thing after Laura's killer is uncovered.

LOST: The scene in the church and half of the last season were stupid. I can't suggest a better ending, I just wanted to complain about the existing ending.

Handmaid's Tale: I've stopped watching it because it makes no sense that in a brutal, repressive regime, all the same 10 people are hanging out doing the same basic shit. Half of these people would have been on the wall four seasons ago. Or in some kind of a rape prison. The first two seasons were good and then it just kind of... meh.

Dexter: Ends with Season 4's finale. I don't want to spoil but if you watched the series you know why this was an appropriate conclusion to the series.

Xenogears and Xenosaga: A whole lot of things. Apparently the staff was mostly novices who were fresh out of college, the cutscenes were incredibly long because they were padding it out while figuring out how to do the gameplay and for whatever bizarre reason, rearranged the staff to spice things up for Episode II (remember, novices).

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Specifically Part 2)

Instead of
Sending Kars' whore ass to space,
Joseph should have quit being such a little faggot about Ceasar and got Kars to suck his dick for all eternity. He'll still eventually stop thinking but instead he'll just be too busy sucking off Joseph. We all know that's what he did for ACDC for like 100,000 years anyways. Actually scratch that, Kars and ACDC should have just become porn stars. The end.
I think you just out-fujoshitposted me.

Halo.
Just end it at Reach. Maybe I can accept halo wars 2 inexplicably being made after the series is over.
Even Halo Wars 2 was weak. Forcing a plot tie-in with infinite that goes nowhere, stylizing the graphics in such a weird cartoony way even though 1 had none of that and still looks good. There's a few other ways it's just off, like changing the way it's characters look in general, but some in gameplay.

Pokemon- I would not have Pokemon be the 'default' wildlife. In the earliest lore there were ordinary animals alongside Pokemon, Pokemon had arrived to Earth thousands of years ago, they were not of Earth. That made far more sense, that would explain why Pokemon were really special, and why people sought them out. Going with this, I'd have gone further and made them rare and very slow to breed. If Pokemon are very rare and special and people have to actually search them out, then it makes sense for people to get excited over them and form clubs. Finding one (and successfully being able to tame it) becomes a cause for celebration and bragging rights. Making them rare also means people will treat them like trophies and weapons and not like living things, which seamlessly leads into plots like MewTwo and other legendaries.

My other fix for Pokemon would be to have another cartoon with a much more darker take and more realistic art style, like that dark cartoon 'trailer' that is on YouTube. Sometimes a series need to grow up or they will forever be stuck in the kiddy age ghetto.

Batman vs Dracula- This one is very nearly perfect, but my biggest gripe is that it does what every comic book movie toon does: It takes a good idea and at the end resets it back to the bland boring status quo without ever developing it further.

My change would be to the Vampirism itself and some of the plot- it's not a disease or curable, when Dracula turns you it's because he drained you and made you drink his blood. You die and come back a walking blood-sucking corpse after that. That would make what Joker becomes more horrific, give Bats a huge quandary about whether or not to keep Joker 'alive' and contained in Arkham Asylum or if he should destroy him, and in the process try to avoid getting drained/turned himself by either Dracula or any other vampire. I would also not have too many vampires created besides Joker and two or three others (maybe just Poison Ivy and Two-face) but the other baddies Batman fights would just be ghouled mooks, living mooks and living supervillains like the Penguin and such. Penguin and the rest of the living baddies would be utterly terrified of the Joker and of getting on his bad side, if dealing with him before was nerve-wracking then dealing with him as a vampire would be pure nightmare fuel. This movie would also not be a one off, it would be the introduction into a mini-series, because seeing the Bat fighting Drac and Vampire Joker is just plain awesome.

Samurai Jack- I would have scrapped everything past the first 3 episodes of the 5th Season and just had him search out and kill all of the Daughters and finish off Aku. He never acts shocked or horrified that he kills anything, when he's done he says goodbye to all his friends, and goes through the time portal that has that cool Guardian, kills off Aku in the past, marries Grasshopper Girl and makes a bunch of babies.

Sonic SatAM - remove the cliffhanger after Robotropolis and Robotnik are defeated on the last episode. It implies Ixis Naugus from the comics is the new antagonist alongside snively who survived the destruction, but unless you actually READ the comics (and if the show wasn't canceled after that episode), you wouldn't know who the fuck owned those pair of eyes in the darkness before the credits.

Hellraiser 2: instead of the original Cenobites being killed instantly by Leviathan/Channard, we get a cool fight scene where the original Cenobites turn on their master, chains are shooting everywhere, and eventually the original Cenobites defeat Leviathan/Channard with Kirsty's help. In the end, Pinhead and his crew leave on "good" terms with Kirsty, similar to the end of The Hellbound Heart.

No further films are made.

The Thing and Predator are standalone movies, and the respective scene at the start of each of them with the ship entering earths atmosphere are cut.

Trollhunters.

You can’t set up a “chosen one” story with a bunch of thousand-year-old prophecy bullshit about this specific guy being the only one who would be able to win and then… end it by the guy going back in time and going “I don’t want to do this again, the fat comic relief kid can do it”.

Literally, like, anything else would work.
