Someone in the back told the announce team to start talking about how winning this match would be a big deal for the Ascension, like wins and losses suddenly meant something.

I don't understand the modern product, its 1/2 pretending its real an 1/2 constantly openly acknowledging its a stunt show. I wish they'd pick one. The announce teams spend most of the match talking about angles or nothing in general or plugging social media rather than calling it as if it is an actual fight.

So, two of my wrestling friends just texted me saying Bubba Ray Dudley was a surprise entrant in the Rumble, and the Philly crowd went fucking MENTAL for him.

They did. He got a pop only slightly smaller than The Rock, Bryan and Ambrose.

Incidentally WWE figured out how to make people boo the Rock.

From what I'm hearing, the crowd pretty much turned on the Rumble match as soon as Daniel Bryan got eliminated.

That's two years in a row now that the Rumble match had a hostile crowd.

Yeah, they pretty much flipped their shit until Ambrose showed up, then began to actively cheer him on. Once he got eliminated things got REAL ugly.

Yeah, Ambrose and Mizdow and Ryback were the only people who got the crowd to briefly calm down and cheer, everyone else got booed out of the building.

Cue WWE's damage control on Raw...

I have to disagree here. I don't think it will be damage control. I think they will roll with it. Vince will show "bold leadership" and push through this week. If people start dropping off the network before Fast Lane, and Fast Lane will probably be the worst PPV since 2013's Battleground, then he will make changes. The stock has been dropping off a bit and they have a conference call scheduled for this month, so I agree damage control is coming, but an ugly post-Royal Rumble is what they need.

I dunno, generally, the crowd's on Raw after a particularly bad PPV tend to be quite hostile (It was either a Post WM or Rumble where the crowd just took a giant shit on everything and basically chanted things like "We want Ice Cream!" just to fuck with Vince's head). To me, if the crowd on Raw is in a hostile mood and just shits on everything, Vince may hit the Panic button a bit early.

Reigns' shitty showing this year certainly didn't help. His performance last year got the crowd fired up and cheering for him. This year I thought he was imitating CM Punk by sitting in the corner the whole time.

Reigns isn't bad, but nothing stands out. I just don't understand this HUGE push. I know why the crowd shat on him, and it isn't about him. He's a good worker by my estimation, never appears lazy, but I don't want him in the Main Event, not yet at least. If the WWE wises up, this will be the summer of Rollins v. Bryan and Ambrose and Wyatt v. Ascension.

The cancellation page for the network crashed. That should give us a picture of how the fans feel.

As for Reigns. They are moving too fast with him and he is going to crash and burn. He has zero hook for the crowd. No reason to care. He should spend a year in the mid card developing that. The 2016 rumble would have been his year had I held the book.

I hold similar feelings. I am quite surprised at the #cancelWWEnetwork backlash. I retract my previous statement regarding the WWE waiting a week or so before trying to figure things out. Matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do one of their post-RAW special matches on the network tonight. I can't think of anything that would result in people really caring unless it was for the WWE title, though... Possibly they figure out a way to have Reigns put his spot up against Bryan or Rollins or something.

They need to do something man to help Roman. His career is gonna be decided in the next few months. If he crashes and burns then I don't see how he recovers.

They need to do something to help themselves. People are legit cancelling their subscriptions based on what happened on the first night of WrestleMania season. The season finale looks like it won't bring home the bacon. I don't want to see the Disney of Reigns taking down Lesnar as Lesnar is walking out the door, a 50 year old Sting and HHH limping around, John Cena burying Rusev, some Total Divas shit and the poor booking of Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt and whatever they will shoehorn irrelevant Big Show, Kane, Randy Orton and Sheamus into. I just hope we get to see Damien Sandow come out on top if they let him on the card.

ETA: Probably will not be a live Raw tonight. There is a travel ban in Hartford, where Raw was scheduled to be.
