No, I think it was a great year for the farms; all the anti-KF stuff failed colossally in the end. The community united and had more purpose than ever, speaking out about important societal topics beyond laughing at dumb people. keffals and me love you dong time seem to have lost it in the aftermath.

Users are responsible for their own privacy. As you mentioned, they don't need you to cooperate to get the info they need to harass their citizens. The fact you never received a request from a Bong doesn't mean shit (and this goes double for China, Russia, Iran etc.)

I don't think most people are aware of the level of invasive policing going on.
That is the core of the issue, it's insane how many times people were at least fined or outright jailed for saying things the establishment doesn't like or is forbidden by laws, even if they're completely retarded. The worst thing about it is that you even can't talk about real problems anymore, without getting a label branded on you.
I don’t know what tmw means but I think you have misunderstood me; I am not making a negative value judgement against laughing at idiots on the internet as the key aspect of the site at all, but only saying that the site took on a wider influence on society because of recent events - and it emerged victorious by surviving all of the spergery. I don’t think the community aspires to be a kind of political PAC at all.
As far as I know the only German-speaking people in the German-speaking threads are Texasdeutsche and Pennsylvanian Dutch, just exercising their god-given first amendment rights far away from the clutches of the Nu Stasi. At least my IP agrees with that conclusion.
