I fucking hate google (a rant) - i'm going to spend a copious amounts of time ranting on google searches

now, you may be reading this and be like "osama, no shit. google has a workforce comprised of 41% troons. why the fuck would you still use them?" so, i've been a google user for as long as i was able to learn how to type words on a keyboard and i think today is my breaking point for google search results. it started off with watching a MATI stream one day as background noise and null was going off on how google surpresses the kiwifarms and it's hard to find personal information on google. didn't notice it for myself until one day i was searching for something relating to lolcows on google, and it wouldn't let me find what i wanted. so, thinking to myself "the fuck", i go to bing and type the same search results and found what I wanted. so of course, it opened my eyes to what null was talking about.

if you go back on my previous posts, there's been at least 2 times where i'm asking a basic question (not relating to right wing, lolcows, or anything libtards would consider "unsafe") and I can't find fucking find what I'm looking for. google will literally give you the surface level definition of what you want and good luck trying to find that ONE article that answers my question.

so, today is my day where i am unironically using bing. i never thought i'd ever have to type/say those words, but I am. i love using websites that purposefully surpresses information that I need.

Google search has been in decline for a while. I think it has less to do with google, than about website operators becoming a little too good at search engine optimization. The internet is just not a network of statically linked pages anymore. The pages that engine-crawler robots are allowed to see, is closely curated by people who wish to inject information into your search results. I don't think bing or duckduckgo are much better.

I was able to tolerate their bullshit until they stopped interpreting quoted terms to mean "give me results for these exact words in this exact order". That was the closest thing you could get to old-style Google before they started omitting words, matching different inflections of words, and matching synonyms. Now you may as well not even use quotes, they don't tell Google to match exact words anymore.

I hate Google/web search so god damn much and have worked myself up into a frothing rage (ok I'm exaggerating) while trying to Google even the most mundane shit. It's either sponsored ads to buy shit or absolutely completely unrelated or otherwise shilled shit.
I've basically just taken to adding "reddit" at the end of my search because there's usually at least one other autist out there at least asking the same question I'm looking for.
I just avoid searching shit half the time now. That's probably their intentions.

I was just thinking about this today. I was looking up information on a supplement to make sure it didn't have any negative reactions to the current supplements I'm taking. It gave me wrong information and if I had just gone by their highlighted top results "answer", I would have taken a supplement that cancels out my other supplement.

Another thing, my dad was looking up a number to call Amazon to complain about a late order. The number Google listed as the right number was actually a scam number.

These days, Google is only semi-useable if I throw "reddit" at the end of it because half the time it won't even search what I asked it to search, it will throw up some unrelated search that it THINKS I want.

And don't even get me started on their shitty forced local search. God I fucking hate Google.

I use qwant, which is usually pretty good at giving me what I'm looking for... UNLESS I'm searching on British troons. Then I have to use Bing.

Also not only is the default Boolean no longer AND but you can't even invoke AND any more at all. You give it words and it's supposed to have ALL OF THOSE FUCKING WORDS, but instead you get shit that doesn't even have your search terms.

If there are 0 pages that have ALL my search terms, the result should say 0 and have nothing on it.

For years they have made change after change and every single one of them has removed a useful feature or fucked up search even more.

And never mind that they rendered their Usenet archive absolutely unusable after shutting down dejanews.

Also fuck your suicide warning when you search for anything remotely adjacent to the subject. You're not my mom or my shrink and you have no idea why I'm searching for that shit.

I do not like that the search content options move depending on what you search. If I look for an image of shoes for a drawing reference, the shopping option is first and foremost with some images from news articles sprinkled on the first rows

I also hate that they gimped their image search tools on top of hiding them. I basically gave up and started to use Yandex and Bing

EDIT: I forgot that Bing also does that thing with the shuffling tabs, oh well...
