I hate the Internet and the people who own it

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
I'll add to the pile of thanks. I enjoy the gossip site, and it's easier to go from circus tent to circus tent when I want to view the latest attraction. I also enjoy being around a community where most people understand the basic concept of "sticks and stones." Hugboxes make people dumb, and it's too arrogant to think that you're so special that you should never be offended by opposing thoughts.

I've rarely commented on concerning site-wide events over the years because I prefer to share more than platitudes and Null has done an unprecedented job at proving why it's unwise to panic right away when these things happen. I also trust his explanation and forecast and I wanted to add that at this point I'll be satisfied that anything that could've been done was done. That itself means a lot when so many Internet communities have died early deaths thanks to cowardice and self-interest.

I've been lurking since the CWCki Forums days and was a Christory follower back to the ED days, and like a lot of users I regard Kiwi Farms as a bridge to an older era of Internet culture. Now more than ever it's liberating to participate in a community that's not hedged in by the needs of advertisers and the mentally ill and has an intuition for who and what can be mocked in a culture where the public has been persuaded that the emotional comfort and brand image of narcissists and corporations comes first. Sneed.

I just want to let you know: your stubborness and tenacity are inspiring and I applaud you for all your hard work. I hope our little island of shitposting, laughing and sneeding will be here for a long time regardless of what some humorless pricks do. And I hope you don't overwork yourself.

Josh, thanks for doing so much to keep the site alive. This is literally the last place on the internet where you can have a dedicated account and say anything you want that's not flat out illegal. I've been using the internet since I had a 300 baud acoustic coupler, and like everyone else, I remember the days when the series of tubes wasn't the consolidated corporate hellscape that it is today. If the troons are able to get the Farms shut down for good, the last vestige of the old internet will be gone forever, and as bad as the situation is now with respect to the lack of truly free speech, it will only get immeasurably worse going forward.

As much as troons shriek about how they are being literally murdered by words, they might want to consider that free speech is good for everyone, and that the same tactics that they are using to try and erase this website from existence can and will be turned around and used against them in the future.

As much as I hope KF can remain on the clearnet, in the long run I believe that it's more realistic to hope and work for technologies like TOR to become fast, easy and mainstream rather than trying to survive in a rigged, centralized, censored-by-design system. It's not that hard to install a fucking browser.

i'm not super optimistic about the future of the farms, if they could get an ISP to retract service then we're pretty fucked. no alt-tech solution can really emerge in that sector without an angry enough rich goober to fund it.
the twitter buyout does show signs of a change, but will that ball keep rolling for a freer internet?

unlikely. i'll be seeing you all in the metaverse with my slur detection bomb collar armed.

We all fucking believe in you Josh, god sneed and happy Halloween. Seriously, it's hard to find the proper words to thank you enough for all the work you've been doing both recently and over the years. It's really rare to witness and personally I find it inspiring - no matter what happens in the end.

Good luck Dear Feeder, we're all counting on you.

I don't participate a lot in the lolcow threads but I like A&H, the games, Internet and multimedia sections. I don't want this website to disappear.

Forgive me if I'm late and this was covered, but I haven't seen it asked yet in the shuffle between Tor and Clearnet...

Josh, a few weeks ago you mentioned an exciting phone call/development. Is it these new partners/people helping out now? Fair play if you don't want to show that hand, I'm just nosey.
