I think these events regarding the site have really strengthened my view that a lot of foundational things in the modern world are as flimsy as a house of cards. Something as integral to daily life as the internet can be bullied into submission by anyone obnoxiously persistent.
These bullies are not activists, they are not victims, they are the real oppressors, they are leeches. People that use tax dollars and pool donations from other leeches or by abusing the good will of those who want to change the world for the better. They take this money and use it to bolster THIER COMFORT.
Not rights, not freedom, not progress, but comfort.
They bandwagon onto real hardships that people suffer and use it for stupidity like silencing a gossip site that exposes weirdos, gatekeeping a marvel movie if your the wrong race, saying your 5yr old is the wrong gender, destroying livelihoods over minor disagreements, rewriting dictionaries and discarding factual evidence to save face for the most laughable lies. These cretins have always existed but because of the internet they have collected together, having found strength in numbers and have taken the nuclear option of being as authoritarian/retarded as possible. All of this just to be lazy and comfortable with their destructive lifestyle.
Corporations spend millions not to aid real social issues but to put on a vapid mask to avoid this screeching mob.
Media outlets listen to them and spend 10 seconds churning out surface level stories and then cite each other as a source to rewrite history, just for a quick buck.
Because of media manipulation now almost all social and political discourse has lost its validity causing large divisions that bolster themselves on half-truths. Who can tell them they're wrong? Everyone they trust tells them they're right.
