Why do most lolcows...to put it as nicely as possible, tend to have such bad appearances?

If they aren't overweight, their hair is at least greasy and so is their skin. They almost always look unkempt. And they seem to have no idea about the basics of dressing themselves appropriately.

I know it is shallow, but I wonder why. Lolcows have such big egos, shouldn't that make them vain and want to put on the best outward appearance they Can?
 
Lolcows tend to be socially inept...and well, autistic. And thus they can't pick up on social cues, what is and isn't appropriate to wear and a sense of hygiene.

And with the ego thing, lack of social skills and sometimes bad parents.
 
big ego means you're perfect with or without deodorant.

autism causes you to not realize everyone is backing away from your stank.

did this really need clarification?
 
welllll, exceptions to the rule like applemilk and gloria tesch and even crazy gail to an extent. even jace and his friends don't look hideous. but yeah i see where you're coming from.


i simply like to think of it as them being like irl cartoon characters through and through. makes the whole thing that much more surreal! kailyn has big ol' don bluth character lips and talks funny, pixy just looks hilariously DUMB and inept and just funny looking all over, chris just looks like a great big dope, etc. their insides manifesting on their outside!
 
This is my assumption:

What makes a lolcow a lolcow is normally that they are a person that has done something stupid on the internet (as I think we all have done before), but instead of realizing "oh gee, that was dumb of me. I should think twice before doing that again," their own inner workings, whether it be pride, ego, or good ol' fashioned megalomania, decide to keep pressing on and continue to make themselves a spectacle. This demeanor also reflects in other social aspects such as appearances. They believe they are wonderful and totally in the right, even if their hair is greasy or it's completely acceptable to wear clothing intended for toddlers, or whathaveyou.

Because lolcows are like modern art; they may look like shit but it's the feels that matter.

Lolcows tend to want internet fame. People see internet fame as a substitute for loved ones and friends IRL. They lack certain social norms which includes looking nice.
That, or they're just lazy, I think there's definitely a correlation between being a lolcow and having a shitty lol-paying/no job, I'm not saying being jobless makes you lazy, but some of these lolcows don't even try. Pixy hides under a desk when confronted, GK called out day 2, and TJ plays the "my rep online stops me from getting a job." If they're this lazy, they're not gonna take 1+ hours to look nice.
You can shower, do your make-up, and dress nicely for a dinner date with friends or a night at a club, or roll out of bed and make a YouTube video and get the same amount of attention.

Also, I don't find this shallow, it's a simple observation.

I've seen people wearing horrid clothing plenty of times in the area where I live. (I've seen people shirtless in public)

And even though I've had a terrible childhood. I've always worn fairly appropriate clothing.
 
A lot of it is to do with the fact that most of them don't have decent jobs and don't socialise much. If you're constantly having to socially interact, then you develop a sense of self-awareness. You realise that there are certain standards to maintain, simply from observing others. At worst, you'll have someone take you aside and suggest that maybe you should change your shirt once in a while. And if you have a decent job, or indeed any job where they don't give you a uniform, you pretty swiftly have to learn to smarten up. If you don't have these external influences, then it's easier to just be a slob than to dress nice if no one important is going to see you.

Lolcows also tend to be lazy, poor and pretty bad at taking criticism, which are also factors.
 
Their weight problems are usually part of their poor impulse control. Everyone wants tasty food, but Chris doesn't think these things through (which is the answer to most questions about Chris) and the nearby McDonalds offers sweet and salty options, which is good enough for him.
 
Maybe we're operating by some Jack T Chick standards here (i.e. the sinners, condemned to hell are portrayed as ugly whereas the righteous/saved are portrayed as beautiful) But Chick is basically a lolcow.
I AM STRIAGHT (get it through your damn, dirty skulls!) but I don't think that Goldie looks that bad, Jace isn't horrible either, Anna's not bad looking at all but she's more of a white knight than a lolcow.
 
It's also strange when they dress normal when they're kids (Chris, Kai, lesser extent Pixy) but when they reach being a teenager mom suddenly buys them clothes that scream "I'M SPECUL", nothing in style, nothing current (Kai's grandma shoes and laygins, Chris' rugby shirt, khakis and too tight jeans).

Out of curiosity, am I the Anna in question? Because if so, thanks for the compliment, but I'd hardly consider myself a white knight--I hate Nick more than I've ever hated anyone else, he's absolute scum, and while I do try to clear up the misinformation I've heard about him I only do that because I have issues with misinformation of any sort being spread (especially considering what he has done).

If not, disregard the previous paragraph. :P

Anyway, regarding lolcow appearance. I think a lot of the weight issue that was mentioned above is also due to a complete lack of exercise. Think about it--how often do most of these guys even leave their houses, anyway? But I do think poor diet contributes to their tendency towards obesity as well. It's just a vicious combo, really.

I'm inclined to agree with this, myself. They don't learn from their fuckups, and their poor hygiene and fashion sense is quite possibly an extension of that.

I was talking about Chris's Anna, the poster child of all white knights. You know, the lesbian mormon who wrote the tale of the crazy pacer.
 
There are many factors and reasons as to why they have unkempt appearances:

- Laziness; They don't feel like doing anything about themselves.
- Refusal to bathe or partake in personal hygiene (see Chris, Nick Bate, and Pixyteri).
- Lack of social cues and common sense.
- Odd food habits (Jay's diet and refusal to eat fruits and vegetables).
- They believe they have the perfect look.

In the end, a lot of it simply boils down to lifestyle choices.
