idea: posts in a&h autodelete after a designated period of time - in the future, all jannying will be done by bots

while it is usually important to archive posts, posts in happenings/A&N, objectively don't matter in the long term. Discussing things in the short term is the only real use for these boards. Advantages to this approach:


1. people who come here just for politisperging will be deterred
2. people who want stickers from those boards only keep them for awhile (ditto for post counts)
3. any posts that are important enough to archive will be up for long enough for individual users to archive them & save them for later
4. lots of space will be saved
5. jannies can do work more quickly when the threads aren't allowed to become enormous


I have no idea what the interval would be. A period of weeks seems reasonable to me.

Without giving my opinion on the matter directly, I just want to mention that users came to me about some of the archived thread removals and told me that people off-site use those threads as resources. They were concerned enough about it that I had to check and make sure Spergatory threads could still be seen by people without accounts. (They can)

I'm not sure if "off-site" means Discord gayops, social media bullshit, or if there are genuine communities that benefit from the use of those threads that simply do not use KF directly as I never looked into the matter further.

I spend a lot of time in some of those big threads, and I don't think regular users are too attached beyond using the thread as a comfy chat room. I very much doubt there's lots of combing over posts from even a month ago, let alone longer than that. The discussion moves way too fast for that.

Based on what I understand from the spergout that happened after Ride baleeted the first Joe Biden thread, this might be the happy medium that keeps mod tools usable and avoids conspiracy theories among the regulars.

If there was a way to trim the quality threads from the streams of shit that gets posted to a&h I'd be for autodelete or some stricter moderation or mass deletion. There's a fair amount of threads in that board that are relevant to kf's history like the couch cuck happenings thread as well as some major cultural events and I think it'd be a disservice to the site + users to delete them alongside the piles of shit surrounding them.
