Why don't you use the recommended one (1280x300)? It will depend on the viewport of the user that sees your profile, so go with a generically good one.

When I made my samurai Champloo one I tried it, but it looked shitty/didn't fit quite right. Will reconsider

When messing with the banner stuff months back I found out that the banner auto-resizes and that lets you have some fun details hidden in certain shots. If you want to do like a custom deal that may be something to keep in mind. That and the fact you can animate them.

This one seems to cut off both sides by quite a lot. I'm not working on an animated one. But I'm certain that it will be too large in size to get it up properly(lol)
