Idiot Plots

The original Halloween II is the classic "idiot plot" movie, the hospital staff knows there's a killer on the loose in the dead of night but they act like it's just another day at work and they have 0 awareness of their surroundings.

Lots of Japanese anime rely on idiot plots, Victory Gundam has one extremely baffling moment where the main character infiltrates the enemy homeworld to rescue his love interest, finds her, then says he will come back for her later and leaves without bringing her, leading to a chain of events that negatively affects the heroes. Completely fucking retarded moment. Hunter x Hunter has several of these too, there's a saboteur character who repeatedly backstabs the protags and they keep working with him anyway. I also lost track of how many times clearly dangerous and irredeemable villains are allowed to go free so they can fuck with our heroes later on.

All Far Cry games, especially at the start of Far Cry 2 when the Jackal acts like he's going to kill you and then decides not to so the game can begin and Far Cry 3 when Vaas doesn't simply shoot Jason at the start so the game can begin. Then we are expected to take the plots of these games seriously. :jacewtf:

All Super Mario Bros. games, how many times is this fat cuck going to risk life and limb for a princess who gets kidnapped on purpose so she can shack up with a giant monster

Mouthwashing might fall into this. I've not played it (not my thing) but based on plot summaries and videos of the early game I think it does.
Edit: It likely doesn't. Corrected by @wtfNeedSignUp below.

The story has you on a cargo space ship that crashes. The captain is injured and the crew don't have enough supplies to survive, so you break into the cargo hold to see if there's anything useful, and it's crates of alcohol based mouthwash.

First and formost, the story is told nonlinear. Jumping forwards and backwards in time. The reason for this is that, when put in order, everybody's actions are retarded.

The twist is revealed that the player character raped one of the crew, and when this is found out crashed the ship into an asteroid because ...I don't know. Over the course of the game there's friction between the crew which leads to deaths and suicide. All the horror game stuff like the creepy mascot are put down to effects of drinking mouthwash.

As should be obvious, even if we run with the premise that the player character raped one of the crew and crashed the ship on purpose, why the fuck anyone wouldn't just shoot him is a mystery. Even if for no other reason to extend their rations. If they somehow didn't know, why would they act retarded throughout the entire game. If the player character is that much of a dick, why wouldn't he steal the escape pod first chance he got?

Not really correct, the main thing is that the pilot is the one the crew think caused the crash and he can't talk anymore. Besides that the pilot was the only one who knew of the rape (which is also iffy, it could have been just usual sex with the woman assuming that the daddy will do fetus deletus).

As for all the crazy things happening, it's mostly space madness by the copilot, which is understandable considering the situation and build up of how everyone is fucked.

Good game, but horrid fanbase trying to jam in their politics into a game despite it even being a plotpoint that people using outside reasons to justify their actions rather than accept responsibility.

I'll go with the classic TLJ. Who has THREE concurrent idiot plots.
Turns out everyone in Star Wars except Admiral Dangerhair is dumb because they could've just rammed the Death Star at light speed, or the Death Star 2, or they could have rammed planets at lightspeed instead of building Death Stars in the first place. It's a metaphor for Rian Johnson being smarter than George Lucas, or anyone who likes Star Wars.

Thanks.

I only started listening to plot summaries after the recent drama around Anya fanart. That being claims they overly sexualise her by giving her big breasts, even though they use the in game models. This is supposedly double problematic because she's a sexual assault survivor. If it's not outright stated and left vague makes way more sense in context. It never made sense that the player character (I assume that's the co-pilot?) would be so selfless.

You jump around between playing as the pilot and copilot, the former is just a nice guy and can't really do anything as he is stuck as a barely alive burn victim the entire game (so doesn't really fall under selfless), the copilot is a massive douchebag "never my fault" guy that the fanbase hates but still tries to push how the company is still at fault because CAPITALISM BAD.

Mouthwashing is a good kind of game about idiocy because everything makes sense, there is no children ghosts or some shit, and the corpo employing the characters is just incompetent but not outright malicious or has some retarded plot.

Anyways thread tax, Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the dumbest fucking movies I've ever seen. The plot literally being triggered by a near omnipotent magician not waiting or explaining shit for the main character which nearly dooms the world, and the moral is "if you kill your enemies they win".
