If fiber can't be broken down by the body, why is it good for nutrition?

Its filler to make your shit flow better...
human diet is very diluted and we need stuff to mix with our real shit to make it flow better.
You dont need that if you eat enough none meat animal parts-

Stuff staying in your intestines and rotting is a myth unless you have diverticulitis or other such pockets formed in your intestines.
One of the main causes of diverticulitis is eating too little fiber. When you don't eat enough fiber your colon uses more pressure to push food out, which over time weakens the colon allowing for diverticulitis to form.
 
Well this thread certainly has some diverse opinions!

I wont add one more but just an anecdote. This year I've taken up intermittent fasting of the 16/8 variety. I'm eating only between noon and 8pm and I'm actually eating pretty healthily, imo - lots of vegetables for a start, more than I think I ever have before. But it also means that because I'm no longer having my traditional breakfast I've almost entirely eliminated cereals from my diet. Feeling great, losing weight but one day where I hadn't planned well, I just pulled a box of bran flakes off the shelf because I wanted something quick but still healthy (so I thought). My God - my guts did somersaults and I got the two bob bits for real! Call James Demonaco because we're directing The Purge here.

So I don't know what that says about fibre but I can tell you that the sudden re-introduction of bran (major fibre source I think) after just a few months without and your body will turn into an open pipe. You've heard the expression "the bottom fell out of his world" well I can tell you that the world fell out of my bottom. Beware the fibre!

Fiber doesn’t directly make you excrete. It just makes the feces bigger, which causes it to go down. Potassium deficiency makes the feces too dry to excrete.
 
Nutrition, digestion, whatever! When I was a kid fiber one was my favorite cereal. Just tasted good. Didn't make me poop though, food in general never had that kind of affect on me weirdly. Body just shits when it wants to.

Fiber can ackshually make you terribly constipated. If you eat a lot of fiber without drinking enough water it will block you up good.
