As an act of mercy, and where I would not be held legally responsible for such actions? It would be highly situational but I would probably take the Jack Kevorkian route.
A methodical and pragmatic euthanasia where plenty of research and preparation was done beforehand, with many redundancies in place to prevent discomfort or to provide swift death if something goes wrong during the process. I would make sure they had a very pleasant last week or so on Earth while they got ready for eternity and ask over and over if this is really what they wanted, I would make sure they knew exactly what they were doing. Then I would have them record video testimony and make a written statement that this is what they want and that they blame nobody else for getting what they want.
