If you could genetically modify your children, what would you change? - Because it's your sacred duty as a parent to make your kid a freak

Immunity to all diseases on Earth, which is already possible to do to already living people using CRISPR.

Imagine having immunity to every STD in the world, no more herpes, no more gonorrhea, no more HIV, no more hepatitis, none of that shit.

Imagine there being no risk of being born with Schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, diabetes, downs syndrome, sclerosis, none of that shit.

Imagine what it'd be like being fearless of disease.

If all humans were immune to disease we'd quickly overpopulate and African and India would become even bigger shitholes.

the tail risk of genetic modification is astronomically miscalculated and we will likely pay an unimaginable price for it at some point whether through GMO crops backfiring because of unintended mutations causing sickness, allergy (&c) or by breaking down biological systems we can hardly comprehend at the current time (other scenarios likely, which is why the term "under opacity" applies here with bold heading, red letters, and several exclamation marks,

So what you're saying is that we'll want a couple copies of our kids in case one malfunctions?

but they're japanese so

most likely cat ears

Give them vaguely uncanny facial features. Not uncanny to the degree that anyone will notice ordinarily or regularly, but enough so that when they're moving around or tilting their head someone might look at them and think "what the fuck is this thing pretending to be people?"
It's like child abuse but subtle and more entertaining.

Power level but I have a (relatively common, as far as these things go) genetic condition that makes my blood clot without reason if not controlled with medication. So first thing I'd do is make sure any kid had those bits CRISP'rd out. Also make sure that they were AB+ blood type so they could be universal receivers.

Other than that, whatever suite of enhancements that were available and I could afford.

Ignoring the hugely over optimistic nature of the prediction of people very soon being immune to every possible disease; and further ignoring that there are many sources of mortality besides illness, I just want to point out that statistics in developed countries indicate that overpopulation is a self correcting problem.

You haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about but you've cleverly made that the cornerstone of your argument by projecting that on to every single scientist in existence. After all, you're arguing on the basis of assuming that there's something huge every one has missed. It's not impossible, but it's inherently unprovable. Nice.

All of that can and has likely already happened through conventional agriculture and animal breeding.

You don't have to dig too hard to find stories about how modern crops are vulnerable to newer diseases or how specific dog breeds have utterly fucked gene pools.
