If you could go back in time to kill hitler except when you got there he was being taught how to be a nice guy by a different guy from the future... - you know like tolerance seminars and inclusivity training and stuff like that

would you still kill lil baby hitler? you'd have to kill the other guy too, and potentially any other witnesses like hitler's dumb whore mom

I'd shoot the guy trying to teach him to be better. Then I'll teach him how to better genocide people

I wouldn't kill hitler either way because his dying would lead to a time traveler's paradox and I find the idea of being caught in some kind of cross dimensional limbo distasteful.

In fact if there was already someone from the future there, chances are that already happened. I think I even recall reading that the CIA considered Hitler to be so effeminate and such a detriment to his cause that they actually considered trying to somehow slip him hormones to turn him gay or transgender rather than attempt to assassinate him.

Aha, I fucking knew I wasn't making things up:

Wanna know why he was so effeminate? Time traveling members of globohomo. I rest my case.

All you'd do is create an alternate timeline where Hitler was possibly a different kind of douche unless traveling back in time and meeting another time traveler who is teaching him not to be a douche is what actually turned him into the man he was which means it's a self-closing temporal chain and that means you actually have to travel back in time and run into another time traveler to help Hitler become the uberdouche.

I'm too afraid of paradoxes to alter the timeline. If I go back in time to kill baby Hitler then baby Hitler was already dead many decades before I was born and never rose to power. So how would I know to go back in time and kill him?

Except waging war on two fronts at the same time.
In fairness, nobody expected Stalin's regime to not crumble like a house of cards, especially once the Germans got within 93 miles of Moscow and defeat seemed inevitable. Stalin sending all those young Russian men/women into a meat grinder to barely slow down an enemy that's proven time and again their (percieved) superiority, all while still being obsessed with sending random civilians to the Gulags? Not going to lie, it was a miracle for him that this didn't just snap the USSR in half under the strain.
