Today, at the risk of passing for a , I'm starting a thread about something that buggered me for a while now.
In the age of the instant information and multimedia, it seems that we are letting our brains be dulled by technology and literally do the thinking for us.

Another side effect is that the window on the world lets everyone scream their opinion and be entitled about it, and we Kiwis know this far too well.

So Kiwis, post there the ignorance you find on the web or share stories of IRL philistines you encountered.

NOTE: This a thread aimed to point and laugh at the ignorance, not get salty about it, point out how much you are a smart guy/gal or go on tangents about why these people should be precluded from social media/silenced/aborted.

My husband's now ex step mom really really REALLY wanted to play Spore. It looks cute and fun and bright colors. The things is she had an ancient computer that still ran Windows 98, only had half the needed disk space and ram, and a built in graphics card. I spent a hour arguing with her how this wont work. "But I can play Atari games on it. Why can't I play any game?" And my favorite "You won't know until you try! You can't be so negative, you got to believe!" If only I knew, I didn't need to know how to work on computers and what parts they need to improve them, I just needed to wish with all my heart and I'll have a top end gaming machine god.

I spent another hour installing the game. The poor thing made noises like it was dieing the whole time. Then the need more disk space error came up. She asked what that was. I told her she needed more room on the computer to play the game. She asked if I could make more, or make the game fit. No, this isn't like a suitcase where you can add more socks and sit on it to zip it up. She got mad. It was my fault, the games fault, my FIL's fault. He comes in to ask WTF is going on and she starts screaming about how she can't play the game because her computer is old. He said, well you've never said you wanted a better one. She screams "I never thought I would need too. Don't those Windows updates mean anything!"

Now, it WAS my grandmother who did this, so take it with a buttload of salt, but she was in her room and started bellowing my name. I went running in, thinking she had fallen or hurt herself. Nope. She had been on her tablet (she is surprisingly tech savvy for a 91 year old woman) and someone of Facebook had posted a highly obviously photoshopped video with stills of Obama "making out" with various other male politicians. As I watched it she was ranting about how Michelle Obama was a tranny, and their daughters were kidnapped African slave children (seriously) and what a horrible faggot was in the White House, and how America was going to hell, yadda yadda yadda. I about died laughing, trying to explain photoshopping to her. Her response was "But if it's on the internet, it has to be true. That would be illegal to post if it was false." I love her dearly but she isn't the smartest peanut in the turd, ya know?

I don't have the cap handy but any car related thing is lolcow worthy.
A company I bought from many times and one of the fastest in regards to corvettes/camaros LSX motors just set a record for stock head stock bottom end cars in the 1/4. This is a large company that grinds cams, has professional engineers on staff etc.
Someone bothered to tell them they'd be faster with proper cold air intake, because apparently they some how forgot the first cheapest and easiest step on breathing a car makes.

Something that baffles me of my country is how there's a Facebook epidemic of photos of our politician with ballons comic shopped in them that say things of the like: "I'm taking money from the EU to make migrants invade the Czech country" or "I'm a corrupt sleaze who likes prostitutes" and there's people who uses them as legitimate proofs to back up their arguments against said politicians.
The best was about one elderly minister that said, Erik Mokracek-style: "I have worked for the Nazis and the Soviets, I'm a Satanist and Freemason (????)" and people in the comments that raged like no tomorrow and advocated going to Prague and burn down the Castle.
