I'm old, I've lived in a lot of different places and came to the US as an adult. I cannot overstate how important people like Null are and I am so grateful a place like this site exists. Censorship is a gradual process, to say it flippantly it doesn't start with banning giant communication sites like twitter it starts with banning shitposting. We've watched you stand up to entire countries and I know you've had to sacrifice a lot to be in a position where that is possible.

If you do decide to shutter the site and disappear I'll be sad but you'll be a great parent if that's what you want to do and the world will be a better place with your children in it.

Sorry to hear that you're going through all of this, Null. Your insights into freedom of speech laws and the various corporate bottlenecks involved in webhosting moved me to start raising awareness of these issues (and donating to charities.)

I'm sure it's really hard to be isolated and hurting. I cosign the advice others gave about talking to a good therapist - the right mix of talk therapy, staying physically healthy and medication can make a huge difference. I also hope you find a nice lady to settle down with - marriage can be pretty great.

For the record, I don't want Trump to completely get rid of all 230's protections. That would be insane. At the same time major internet hubs especially need to actually allow free speech. The current situation where people are deplatformed for stepping out of line has to be corrected somehow. I lurked for years and joined 2019 - even tough I don't post a lot (had to take a step back to regain my apathy and not get MOTI) I visit the site almost every day. The Salon is my place to be and I (mostly) love the other farmers there. It would be a sad sad day if the site would get nuked.

We are almost the same age and I went through a similar existential crisis when I turned 30. I changed my life completely only for my plans to crash and burn (for reasons outside of my power).

But what happened? I started over again and nothing of value was lost. I am in a better spot than I was before the big crash and I am content with it (even tough my "dreams" didn't come true and plans didn't work out, but I tried). Life is good. It always goes on.
