Won't lie, I'm too new to the site to have some deep emotional bond, but I find it disappointing to read this thread. I understand some of the feels you're talking about but at the same time, that's just life at this point. Stop seeking happiness in other people. Other people will always let you down. Stop measuring your worth by what others think of you. Others don't know what the fuck they think half the time.
This site has been entertaining in the short time I've been on it, and I've come back nearly every single day, because it blends the free speech platform that the *chan variants started with as a vision, with an actual sense of community. Yes there's plenty of shitposting, but it feels much more possible and much more organic to have logical conversations with others here than on any shitchan variant, and yes I even include your other baby 9ch in that mix. Maybe it's just a hallucination based on the usernames etc but this site seems to foster more serious discussion while at the same time remaining unabashedly a shitposting haven.
Do what you will, no one here can stop you or tell you otherwise, but I do hope you learn to stop placing your sense of value on whether you find someone else to pairbond with or whatever the shit. Best wishes.

You should try monetizing the site for financial stability to exploit the fact you've grown a hugely popular site, or you can try returning it to how it was previously by clearing up worst aspects like deleting IF, stickies, ect. Most likely though the genie is out the bottle, It's surprising how many times I see the words Kiwi Farms in every normie corner of the internet.

I enjoy my time here, as many have said it's refreshing to see a forum that encourages discussion and differences in opinion. I feel you've done a good job handling things, especially given the unfair reputation of this site as some sort of internet boogeyman and yourself as Super Mega Hitler.

You gotta do what's best for you. Your happiness and sanity are worth far more than providing a bunch of exceptionals with a place to argue about Orange Man. Whether we shut down, change hands, etc we can always find another corner of the internet; you only get this one life.

I would have agreed with your first paragraph at an earlier time. I remember a discussion in the Gab thread about how the only people who use Gab are people who get banned on twitter, who are usually Nazis and other right wing extremists. Kiwi farms feels like it has been becoming the same way, where you’ll get an assload of downvotes for taking any sort of pro-transgender or anti-racism position, among other more progressive topics.

I think that the defense of free speech is an admirable goal, but just because of how the internet works, a lot of people who get banned elsewhere just come here to shit everything up. And I can’t think of any solutions to that.

If this is how carrying the site on your shoulders makes you feel, then you should take a break. Don't pull the plug on the forum, but stop attending to it for a while. Do something else. Read that book you always put aside, finish that TV series you couldn't get past the first two episodes, cook new foods. Just let the site be for a few days, and think about yourself.

But you also should really go to therapy: it's awful that you were labeled as a nazi because of the forums, and it wouldn't be a surprise if it has taken a toll on your mental health. You would need to have a break from the Internet in general. You were babysitting this community while actively observing the worst the Internet has to offer for years at this point.
A problem with logging in all day, everyday is that you are getting used to whatever is happening. The novelty is gone and things are becoming dull and predictable.

How could you do it while keeping this website up? Now that is the million dollar question.

I can recommend you looking up all the projects you are doing and consider which one to cut. If you defend everywhere, you are defending nowhere.
If you can find reliable people you could try to delegate some tasks, that could save up some brain-time.

Ultimately you will need to think about what do you want to accomplish with all of this. The way you are doing things should be working towards a goal.

This site has become the refugee camp for the internet. It's clear that was never your intention, but the worse things get out there, the more people will find their way to this haven. Most of my posting is in OT, and I try to not pollute cow threads unless I have something to offer. But I think the internet as a whole is just not fun anymore. What you laughed at a decade ago now gets you fired or even arrested in some countries. It's hard to stay lighthearted.

I wouldn't fret too much about the 230 stuff. People are emotional, angry, and every avenue for venting that anger is being systematically shut down. I can see why the idea of using section 230 to suicide bomb the whole tech monopoly is initially appealing, I think in a calmer state most would agree it's not a good idea.

All that said, while I appreciate this place tremendously, at the end of the day you don't owe us or the world anything. You gotta try to find your own fulfillment. I hope this place stays up as to me it's needed now more than ever, but I can't ask you to sacrifice your future to do so. If you stand down, hopefully someone else steps up to keep this going.

I was late to the Kiwi Farm party so to see it shut down so soon after burying myself up to my neck in the shit here would be sad, but even sadder would be knowing the operator and figurehead of the site was suffering just so I could laugh at a fat lady and some internet retards. I always viewed Farmers as silent observers and record keepers, not provocateur retards like 4chan and their gay ops. But more akin to librarians who stay in our own private library and exchange books and conversation.

It'd never work anyway though. Multibillion dollar companies have law firms that take up entire floors just to focus on one case. They'd warp the case law to favor themselves no matter what the law is. Shit flows downhill and it's the users who take it in the ass, and the little guys who go out of business entirely.

New regulation just favors those who can use it to establish a monopoly new players can't enter into competition with.
