The CW has proven that the chain of command in all participating countries with nuclear weapons is quite effective at filtering out the suicidal schizos or troons that just want to see the world burn. And even if this particular breed of lowlives worms its way into the driver's seat of a nuclear armed nation, you can bet the people right below them would frag them if the order of a nonsensical suicide attack was given. I'd be more worried about accidents like diversity hires fucking up the maintenance of a nuclear missile.

The real reason MAD works is because nobody wants to rule a glass parking lot, which is what the world will wind up resembling in the event of a full-scale nuclear exchange.

Wouldn't need to be slow, if either Israel U.S. or Russia went for the 'Samson option' then they'd easily have enough nukes to spare a dozen or so for the lands down under. It's not like they only have a couple thousand nukes each.

Aren't all of our nukes linked up to software from the 1970s? If nuclear missiles were to be set off, it'd be most likely done by the hands of a madman hacker than a slime ball politician.

Kind of, but the overall control chain isn't connected to the wider internet. The government may be stupid, but not so stupid as to basically dangle world ending weapons in front of autismo-hackers that want to burn everything. Actually, using outdated™ hard and software for the comman and control of nuclear arsenals is pretty smart, since these things can only do what they're supposed to do and by that are quite reliable, even in the worst case.

By the way, there has been precedence for missle maintenance going horribly wrong: and this was well before diversity hires...

Honestly, the nukes launching is basically the only thing that would make me eat a bullet. I don't want to live in the world of Fallout, I don't want to see everything I know and love reduced to rubble... and even if I did, I know I would never survive such a world.

If that ever happens all I can hope for is that I’m at ground zero where I’ll be instantly vaporized with no pain.

If I’m in a section where it’ll just be a long, painful and drawn out death from radiation poisoning, I’m just going to shoot myself instead.

Shitposting from the bunker and wondering what happened to all the various lolcows would be kinda funny, but the fact that I'd likely die of either starvation, dehydration, food or water poisoning, or some sort of horrible disease (assuming the blast and radiation didn't get me first) kinda ruins it a bit, TBH.
