Indie Game Suggestion Thread - Word of mouth

The Brew Barrons. A dogfighting game where you are a bootlegger fighting air pirates. (I want to say it's diesel punk, but not sure what counts as diesel punk.) The trailer gives me strong Valkeria Chronicles vibes.

Looks like its trying to be like that game, don't remember what it's called but everyone knows it. The one where the United States balkanized and they had biplane pirates flying around.

Dieselpunk applies. It's just steampunk but with a World Wars era aesthetic/petroleum-based fuel.

Game looks like shit, though.

I quite like Green Hell, you can pet capybaras and throw spears at brown people.
I've had my eye on it. Actually had my eye on lots of things. Snow, Long Dark. Forest and horror, The Forest (tried it didn't like it). Island, probably Fountain of Youth game. Green Hell is supposed to be the most autistic (down to having hunger split up into different kinds of nutrients). It was sounding better on account of having villagers that aren't completely retarded (right?). When I'd play The Forest I would just think "this would be better if these were just regular Indians." It would have even been scarier if they had been regular Indians if that meant they were a real threat and could lay ambushes and what not instead of scurrying around like spastics and occasionally one of them has a second head growing out of thier asshole or whatever.

Crimson Skies, yes? Pretty kino game, by all accounts.

Not played it myself. The early reviews complain that it takes too long for drinks to be sold leaving you lots of time with little to do. If true, hopefully that can be fixed in a patch.

That said, I like the style of it, but I'm a sucker for that stuff. The music especially.

Even the gameplay is kind of strange. From a let's play I watched, the game seems to have more in common with Dredge, in that you're gaining money for upgrades, so you can explore islands further from your central base, to get more blue prints, recipes, and ingredients in order to make better booze and buy more upgrades.

Good to know. I wasn't sure if dieselpunk needed more sci-fi elements like jet-packs.

Hell is Others is a top down extraction shooter with some fairly decent graphics. You can craft bullets by growing them in your apartment or just find them as drops throughout the game world. The atmosphere of the game is pretty trippy as well as you have this mouth in your apartment that you can feed blood to on top of everything else.

If you don't like playing with actual human beings then there is an offline mode with AI playing the part of the "Others".

It's a pretty decent game and a cheap one at that.

Fight n' rage is decent beat-em up in the same vein as streets of right and final fight.
It's set in a post apocalyptic world were you beat up furries. Theres lots of stuff to unlock too.
I got it on sale on steam really cheap.
Games which Ive tried and got bored of: Dodgeball Academia, Aggelos, Final Vendetta
Fightn Rage is possibly the GOAT beat em up. A towering achievement of mostly one autist that mogs the best efforts of well-funded professional teams. Final Vendetta is solid and one of the better recent ones.

Steam spring sale is a go so if you know something worth giving money to, now is the time to act.

Frebbventure is a dope ass platformer I found out about while browsing SFGHQ a while ago. I'm not sure how to describe it other than sharing some elements of some of the Kirby games and DK Country, but all I know is that it's some good fun. You can create many builds from choosing different characters and their loadout for a lot of replayability. The dialogue, art design, and story bits quelled an itch within me somewhere for an era where people could upload passion projects and enjoy a game as it stands. It has quite a lengthy demo if you want to try it out before you buy it.

Faith The Unholy Trinity is a really cool and unsettling game. The graphics are Intellivison like but with rotoscoped cutscenes and really beautiful music. The creater Airsorf is a pretty interesting guy too, really devout Christian amd believes in demons and shit amd it shows in the game

I might be late to this, but just today I discovered a whole sub-genre of indie games. The so called Forager clone.

Nova Lands: An automation game where you harvest resources to buy islands, each island has different resources on it, and they attach via a hex grid.

Forager: Supposedly the game that inspired this sub genre. There was some drama with the devs I know nothing about.

Vexlands: Like Nova Lands, but instead of islands you're buying little plots of land. This one seems to focus on farming and combat, whereas the other two seem to be more chill.

Abiotoc Factor: A crafting survival game set in a Black Mesa meets SCP environment. The graphics are fantastic. Hopefully it can deliver.

The Human Show: A co-op vs dungeon master type game where the players are survivors in a horror game, and a human dungeon master controls traps and monster spawns. I loved this kind of game since playing the Half-Life 2 mod Overwatch. I don't know if this game will be any good, but I hope so.

EvilVEvil: A vampire themed co-op shooter. Could be interesting, especially after the mess of games like Payday 3 and Darktide.

Sorceress: A game heavily inspired by Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

The Last Exterminator: A FPS that draws heavy inspiration from the old Duke Nukem Forever Unreal trailer. There's a demo out, but I've not tried it myself yet.

Added a combo system, archery, and a magic system, but 99% of the time was boot time.

A cute, cheap, and short little upgrade game. Click squares to dig for relics, to earn more money, to buy upgrades to dig better. Can be beaten in 3 hours, but is fun.
