Indie Games - Those things created by individuals or small teams typically without the support of big publishers.

A thread for indie games in general and the things you might see on sites like Gamejolt, Itch.io, RPGMaker and some parts of Steam. I felt a general place to discuss them would be more ideal then creating threads on individual stand out experiences that are relevant for a month then die out once people move on to the next big thing.

I finished Tunic yesterday and I would recommend it if you like cryptic puzzles and a lot of secrets. The action itself is not much to write home about, standard isometric soulslike combat, dodge, block, attack, etc with a couple items thrown in from the Zelda influence. The real draw is the presentation. If you aren't willing to invest the brainpower, then it will be a boring experience. If you enjoy being truly confused as to what to do, or undergoing large tangential projects like translating an entire language then I would say give it a shot (Note: The translation isn't required and not doing it like I did actually gives a niche nostalgia for playing untranslated imports and trying to figure out what to do with limited knowledge). Some of the deeper puzzles can be absolutely cryptic, but they're well designed enough that you never feel like you couldn't figure it out. Definitely have a notebook nearby. All the solutions to the puzzles can be found online, but its definitely much more satisfying going in completely blind. The music is also pretty good and the graphics are nice on the eyes and easy to process.

There's a couple indie games that I really like, in no order and I don't care if "ackshually" shut up.

Door Kickers 2
(I like the first one as well but, in comparison, it's slow and super jank and I simply can't go back). It's an isometric (?) or top down-ish tactical action game where you eliminate bad guys, rescue hostages, defuse bombs and kick doors. I have many hours in this game and it's supposed to leave Early Access sometime this year.

Teardown is a 3d voxel game where (almost) everything can be shot, exploded or beat out of existence. Essentially it was a tech demo or something and the developer(s) just plopped some objectives into it, like "grab the things and escape". It's very fun because you are completely free to tear out walls to complete the objectives easier and faster. Later in the game robots show up and I haven't really played past that.

Blur is a racing game you can't buy anymore. It's like Mario Kart, but with real cars and environments.

Mark of the Ninja is a side-scrolling stealth action game that I haven't played in a long time so I can't explain it well but I really liked it and it can be very challenging.

So those are my picks, what do you think about these games, do you have any other recommendations, do you hate faggots in your games?

Last week people started talking more about how much of a faggot industry the indie scene has become. Wonder if it will eventually lead to a paradigm change where people acknowledge that it's just as bad as AAA

Big companies are big targets but indie development is more like whack-a-mole. I bet at this moment there are at least 1000 indie games in development and, yeah, most of them probably suck complete ass, but they're not being strong armed by DEI fanatics.

A good chunk are though. There are a ton of government grants that will fund your game if it's gay enough. That's how you get Polish games on how evil cops in the USA are.

That's true but there are still games like Door Kickers, Ready or Not, Manor Lords, Palworld, etc.
Do you know of any indie games that are not pozzed, and would you share them, please and thank you.

Deep Rock Galactic.
Pretty much just dwarves blowing shit up and mining jewelry in space.

Kenshi
Brutal post apocalyptic word with slavery, cannibalism, sexism, racism, and all the wonders of a fantasy world.

That's it that has caught my fancy for now.

Kenshi is Badass.

Battle Brothers
Turn based Mercenary Company management game. fight bandits, the undead, greenskins, Muslims and many other fantasy creatures Make money and watch your brothers get their fucking heads caved in by a troll or a sentient tree.
The team behind it is making another game called Menace which looks badass.

Xenonauts 1 and 2 are great as well. Xcom Style games trying to emulate old xcom while bringing it up to more modern standards.

Speaking of indie FPS
Cruelty Squad looks god awful visually, but is great
Big recommend if you enjoy more mission oriented FPS where you have to go in be precise in your method and get out.

just played this gem cuz of /v/3, Genome Guardian, its an arcade roguelike and its been pretty great so far. It's nothing to write home about but the gameplay has an old school NewGrounds feel and its great to play with an audiobook in the background, and im always looking for games like that since my book backlog is much longer than my game one.

Seconded. Still can't get past those fucking Gorbinos though.

If you're someone in need of a gladiator violence fix, We Who Are About to Die scratches that itch nicely. Plays like Mount and Blade battle scenes with some management elements. Got a big ass update last week too.

I can't believe you faggots didnt post everyones favorite schizophrenic cock.
