Indie Games - Those things created by individuals or small teams typically without the support of big publishers.

Anyone got advice for some first person dungeon crawlers or other games like Elder Scrolls?
I've got an itch I need to fill.

needy streamer overdose great game but pretty much everyone is a lolcow in teh fandom so lol nuuu.

I found an interesting dungeon crawler.
It's more in the brain working category than the straight up RPG element.

Game is called Cryptmaster. Started it yesterday there's a demo on steam.
It's damn good. You move around with arrow keys like you would in a normal dungeon crawler, but combat is based on typing skills in to attack.
Your health bar is your character's name and your skills are based on what you figure out from recalling memories / solving riddles. I genuinely enjoy it.
The game is pretty, the VA is great, and the music is damn fine.

If you don't mind using your brain a bit to figure things out, keeping a notepad with letters to write down to help you figure out what letters you've used, etc...
Big recommend. I haven't seen any weird ESG shit. It just seems like it is in its own world doing its own thing.

Pretty late, but I want to recommend Dread Delusion. The world and dungeons are pretty cool, the story is whatever, but the sidequests can be good, and the mechanics are meh - so it's just like ES!

I have been fighting the urge to type 'Nigger' so many time just in case the devs programmed something to blow my computer up.
They shouldn't have this power over me. I should be able to type nigger without fear!

Akuma Kira has Interesting ideas but absolutely sucks at follow through, Mechanics are always bad. Lucanid was so disappointing and so was dread delusion. Dread Delusion had too many ideas with not enough time to explore any of them and a combat system so bad it might as well have been a walking simulator. That being said i did beat it.

Anything good from the currently ongoing Steam Next fest?
I took a quick glance and found Commandos: Origins which looks like the kind of game I really liked with Desperados 3 (which in turn was inspired by the original Commandos games if I'm not mistaken).

Unrelated I saw Hundred Days - Winemaking Simulator is on sale and, while you don't shoot or fuck anyone, it's a really relaxing and enjoyable game. I even bought the DLC but I don't think it is as good as the base game.

Hollow Knight Silksong is gonna flop, mainly because the indie market has changed so much over the 6-ish years in development. People don't want 2D metroidvania platformers that much anymore, and even though they've got the brand recognition it's still a problem endemic to any game that takes 5+ years to make. Worst case scenario it goes like Super Meat Boy Forever where it was so mediocre that it doomed the once extremely popular IP to irrelevance.

I am already confused as to why it hasn't come out.
It feels like they're doing a Duke Nukem Forever.

Except DNF was a boundary pushing AAA FPS, not an indie 2D Metroidvania probably built on the skeleton of the original. I bet they know they have a stinker on their hands or something and just don't have the balls to scrap it and start from scratch.

It's times like these that I understand why when Pixel sold Cave Story to Nicalis, one of the contract terms was "ABSOLUTELY NO SEQUELS"

It getting kind of sad too. There was a six year gap between Risk of Rain 1 and Risk of Rain 2 and those dudes where able to take a 2d game and completely make it work in 3d. One of the best 2d -> 3d conversions since Metroid Prime.
