Unbelievable that I am only one here living in a nation with bad gas station coffee.
I still remember "real" gas station coffee. One or two big pots of strong, drip brewed coffee that stood on a hotplate until they were empty, or even worse got constantly refilled. Cleaning optional or impossible. Some places even had insulated barrels or these metal crate things with a spigot at the bottom. It was cheap, sometimes even free, and an insult to the senses and your health in any way imaginable.

I worked a jobsite with some mexican day laborer types for a while and they always did the crystals in the hot water instant shit before being clued into real coffee- Gave them a bag of my ground stuff one day after work and told them to tell me what they thought about it tomorrow. Boys come in and I ask them how it was. Pedro and Julio says, "Mane, eez too gritty!"

Instant coffee as in canned coffee is pretty good.

I used to drink Nescafé. It was alright when you opened it, but would forget you had it in the cupboard after a few years and it would be all sticky and clumped.

The only instant coffee worth drinking is the shit that's entirely in Spanish. My early teenage years were that with two bags of sugar and two non dairy powdered creamer packets and now I am immune to caffeine in all forms.

Instant coffee is great for the convenience factor. I also dont care about the way my caffeinated bean water tastes. I just like the way it make my head go buzz and my butt go brrrap.

Depends on the brand. I found some once at a local asian grocery store that was 3-in-1 coffee, creamer and sweetener that was pretty good. I think it was called San Miguel.

Instant coffee is pretty good if you mix it with warm milk and some sugar. That being said, not great if it's on it's own.

You can do that stupid fad that everyones doing by making dalonga, but instead of the excess amount they make to plop it on top, I just whip a 1 : 1 tbsp ratio of everything (water, powder, and sugar) , get a electric hand whisk, make it into the cream/foam whatever, and mix it with warm milk, it creates a nice texture and its not disgustingly potent+sugary

I think the only time I use instant coffee as is with water/the powder than it being heavily diluted with milk is when i make a latte without the espresso (sadly).
