Cops can basically fucking murder you and tell a sob story about how they "felt threatened" and get away with it. The MAGAtards defended them this whole time and now it's coming back to bite them in the ass.
That being said, what they did was excessive force and my friend is considering suing. @AnOminous is the only person on here I can think of off the top of my head that has any legal knowledge, but I don't know what he knows about this particular topic.
These hero cops pointing deadly weapons and screaming "Fuck" at an 87 year old woman that was struggling not to wet herself. Absolutely excessive.

Sounds pretty worthy of a lawsuit but whether it would be better in federal or state court I don't know. He should contact a lawyer who sues cops very, very soon though because civil rights suits usually require you register them often in a really short period of time like 60 days. He should only really talk to a lawyer about this, not in public, until he knows whether it's a viable suit. If the first guy doesn't seem interested he should ask if they know any other guys. Often lawyers don't want to sue cops somewhere they live. And obviously if you get a couple recommendations do a deep dig on them to make sure they're not an utter fuckup like T. Greg Doucette.

It's settled law that the police have no obligation to protect the citizenry from criminals. 'Serve and protect' is for marketing, it has no basis in reality.
The police are empowered to do one thing, and one thing only, to enforce directions of elected officials.
If the politicians told the cops to bust down doors and round people up for the re-education camps they'd do so happily.
There may be a few small town sheriffs who'd resist, but the vast, vast majority will always comply with directions. Whether those directions are legal or not (viewing problematic websites is not against any law) they could give the remotest fuck about.
The good news is that America is a heavily armed nation and cops like being alive as much as the rest of us.
