I watch Shapiro fairly regularly since he tends to be a good tradconservative political headwind - he's notoriously bad at couching how he actually feels about something. Every time he predicated a statement around the idea that it wasn't clear who was going to be sworn in, one definitely got the impression that he had no faith that Trump would actually be crowned king and was just doing it not to piss off the audience.

His insistence from the start was that "the system will go through its process" regarding election claims, so the country wasn't going to fall apart. He never once stood behind the claims that the dems had frauded or stole the election.

I would say that like Benji, a lot of the apparatus that seemed to support Trump through his bizarre adventure was just doing so in order to avoid alienating the people who believe that if someone says something in an affidavit, it is true. Political theater at its finest - brave heroes way too concerned with being able to draw their fat paychecks and bribes for another political cycle that they'll gladly go along with something until the precise moment where it ceases to be profitable.
