I'm pointing out that a virus not directly killing large numbers of people doesn't suddenly make it "just a mild flu bro". AIDS is at the uppermost extreme of this, but also is harder to transfer compared to COVID. Obviously, if I had to choose to be infected with one or the other, I would choose COVID, but that doesn't make my point invalid.

There are other diseases that kill people indirectly, comparing it to one of the most notorious and most lethal as some kind of "gotcha" is just absolutely shameless, context quite frankly be damned.
Not to mention the spread rate is completely different: COVID spreads like the flu, and HIV/AIDS only spreads through idiocy (wear a fucking condom, damnit) and police (dealing with bleeding people, needles, etc).

It seems they are content to just engage in endless pissing matches and useless tribalism, complete with blind party-line obedience... So yeah, as I said, this whole mess can only serve to act as entertainment for me, cause it very likely will not amount to anything else. Any productive way of dealing with modern problems and politics is never going to happen, if it depends on both sides pausing their slapfight for just a minute to realize that they shouldn't even fight over red-vs-blue shenanigans but rather try to find a common solution to their problems.
