I’d say it’s more of a “the beatings will continue until morale improves” because it’s clear the only prescription that’s been approved is Trump, his supporters, and everything MAGA is purged from society only to be remembered as how Nazis and the Confederate States of America are remembered: undisputed villains of American history. And leftists only know doubling down and brute force to ensure their vision is not only accepted, but loved almost religiously.

Am I missing something? When the hell did Trump say anything to the effect of "BREAK THE WINDOWS TO CAPITOL HILL AND STORM THE BUILDING"? I know that some in the Trumpist rank-and-file have been clamoring for an activation of the Insurrection Act in order for Trump to stay in power because they don't know what kind of hell that would unleash onto the country all at once, but-- I dunno, maybe I don't use Twitter enough, because I don't recall Trump saying anything even remotely resembling the inciting of a coup. Everyone was preparing for trouble today-- they weren't preparing for a coup that Trump supposedly incited at any point until then.

If anything it just shows the divide and how huge it is between the common man and the supposed representatives. They relax in their shits and treat the ones that gave em power worse than filth, in their heads is how dare those slaves get so uppity. They despise America but more importantly they despise Americans. The authorities have long seized to be your friend if they follow orders like that. They will allow your bussiness to burn down your wife raped and your livelihood destroyed but dare you be angry about it and they will clobber you even harder. This goes beyond following orders and quite frankly everyone that still is part of that should be ashamed.

it will be conveniently forgotten, just like all the other stuff. because even if we go with the narrative that the election was completely legit, people didn't vote for biden, they voted against trump.

the thing is people are still thinking this is spring 2020 were shit started happening in the middle of flu season and during spring numbers went down naturally like they do every year, so at worst you had to deal with a few more weeks of "flatten the curve". except that shit usually starts in november and goes till march, sometimes may - no one is gonna take another 3-5 months of lock down "till the numbers go down", even less when everything still gets attributed to corona anyway.

even over here in cuck capitol germany people are suddenly getting grumpy and go full suprised pikachu the strict lockdowns that have been happening for a month now are gonna get extended and stricter. of fucking course they do, because apparently back in early december everybody was seriously expecting "it's ok to just crash the economically busiest season, it will be over right after new year's eve". fucking what?

kinda ironic that inauguration and all that shit is happening right in the middle of this, those 200k people that trump "killed" will be nothing compared to the shit you gonna get the next few months, if they open the country or not. but I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly found a miracle cure and shit is over in february, otoh the media trips over themselves fearmongering about MUH MUTATIONS.

either way we're not getting off this ride any time soon.

Honestly these last few months sort of makes me understand why some people find the idea of Galt’s Gulch appealing. While I previously dismissed it as being some crackpot fantasy, I see how Ann, for all her kookery, seems to have latched onto something real.

If the Democrats go all-in on their agenda and there are no political pathways out of the US’s long-term spiral (and I don’t see any now on the near horizon), I can honestly see some conservatives washing their hands of this and thinking up their exit strategies, be it from their state or the US. For many others, it’ll be hunkering down and disengaging from politics until the next opportunity presents itself...
