Both sides are fucking stupid for rioting the way they have, the reason so many people here are pissed off because of the media branded every BLM riot as a "peaceful or mostly peaceful protest" and fucking slapped anyone that tried saying otherwise as a bigot. Now the table has been turned around and "everyone who raided the capitol and their respective party committed treason and must be removed from society" is the narrative.

If they had just decided on their own to spraypaint "Trump 2024" on some courthouses before the election, they'd just be a bunch of idiot yahoos. They invaded the Capitol building (facing such little resistance that it made the USA look like a 3rd world shithole with police barricading doors to govt chambers) with the motive to interrupt the electoral process and peaceful transition of power with the President's support and incitement. Some went in with ziptie handcuffs, ostensibly to take senators and congressmembers hostage. They set up a damn noose. They murdered a police officer inside the building because they wanted in a door he was guarding.

The gen pop didn't buy the "mostly peaceful" line this summer and BLM support tumbled. All of a sudden, you had Dems condemning the violence. They sure as fuck aren't going to buy right-wing twitter's attempts to paint this all as an overreaction/antifa false-flag gayop/well-the-left-does-it-so-why-can't-we. MAGA support is down and Repubs will be falling over themselves condemning the violence. You can moan about CNN's double standards but you'd be missing the point.

I don't disagree that that the BLM rioters have been treated with kids gloves. However I think it's an important distinction to recognize that the Capitol building group actively interfered with the presidential election with their riot which is a pretty big fucking deal. With that said I think labeling them as terrorists or attempting an insurrection is a bit much. I think it was largely a bunch of idiots caught up in the mob mentality. The fact that once they got in the building they really didn't do much shows that most of them were probably in there as a spur of the moment thing and didn't actually have any plans.
