No, they really aren't. They're often part of the same package.

Fear is one of the primary motivators for seeking control (fear of the uncontrollable).

The left is (generally speaking) afraid of the right (and vice versa) - you see this play out in the rhetoric.

So their immediate fear response is to quite literally leverage what happened to try and gain and maintain full control and silence dissent. It allowed a unique opportunity and motivation for them to try and accelerate things. Hence why they're bringing up an amendment to end the electoral college and introducing legislation to make D.C. and Puerto Rico states, as well as still floating around talk of packing the Supreme Court.

Those aren't kneejerk fear responses, but it all still stems from a fear of not having power and allowing your political rivals to have power over you.

Politicians are easily bought and paid for nowadays and if you want your business to be lucrative and big you gotta be into those lobbies. How people trust these snakes is beyond me.
