That first part is private companies saying they don't want a certain kind of content on their platforms. It's the same as some christian baker refusing to bake a gay wedding cake. Shortcomings of the right to build their own self-sufficient infrastructure and being entirely reliant on Apple and Google not to do something stupid. Mind you, I agree that social media are too trigger happy with certain content when they are entirely oblivious towards banning -say- islamofascism. They are hypocrites and I hate them for that.
They have, for all intents and purposes, a monopoly and that needs to be addressed, limiting their power to deplatform people over petty bullshit would be nice, but you need to balance that out with the christian baker and his right to refuse service to homos in some way. Being banned off of Twitter isn't the social death sentence that you make it out to be and equating that with white farmers in South Africa is not only ludicrous, it's pissing on the graves of murder victims.
Secondly that overreaction with the NG is ridiculous and only some token actionism to show that they are not going to get caught with their pants down their ankles like 2 weeks ago. It's stupid and it's pointless. Do you expect these troops to roam the streets of DC forever now? The leap of faith to declare the US a dictatorship (when you've clearly been fine with how it was running before this election and nothing meaningful has changed since then) is silly at best. Once shit settles down, the troops will go their merry ways, the US will not turn into a police state with NG walking all streets and bullying people, like some of the guys in here seem to imagine while jacking off to volumes of "Gun and Ammo".
Biden will be a fucking boring president, not like anyone of the TES-folks will want to hear or even realize it as long as they stick to their doomposting echo-chambers.
The argument for this always boils down to "The rich made this much money since the coof hit us, therefore the whole thing is a scheme to make them richer" and I always wonder if anyone has actually been bothered to compare the money they made the past year to the amount of money they make any other given year. My hunch: It's not out of the ordinary, the rich have always become richer... and just for shits n giggles: How much more money did they make thanks to Uncle Donald and his awesome tax breaks? With all this "Biden will sell us out to the elites" broohaha, you'd almost think Trump didn't do so for 4 fucking years already. Or pretty much any President before him, for that matter.
These supposed "incremental approaches" are happening inside your head, not in reality. The opinions of singular idiots from Vice's editorial staff or some third ranking underling politician about the future of bug-meat isn't an indication of some evil scheme to take away your burgers and replacing them with grasshoppers on soy-buns.
What do you expect? The US is one of the biggest producers and consumers of beef and pork globally, do you think that's going to change any time soon? The funny thing is, the first time you'll walk down an aisle at a grocery store and see some godforsaken bug-burger product (that is bought by precicely no one and will be gone from the store within a month), you'll still fear that it's step one to force that shit down your throat instead of realizing that it's going to be a failing attempt to gain a market share.
There's going to be some idiots who'll eat that trash and we could laugh at them together, but you choose to be paranoid about it instead.
Don't hold your breath over this.
All of this being said, this board is not a place for political discourse (and I am not pretending like what I am doing would even count as that). It's at best an echochamber for certain political opinions and the only value it can bring me personally is laughing at how much people get into doomposting, how much they work themselves up with their fedposting and then trying to water that down with a "...in minecraft"-tier excuse of a fig-leave to cover their ass in case some fed actually reads their posts.
