I wonder how far the people who are dunking on Trumpers here will go to insist that all this shit being floated about what Biden is going to do is "normal." Or the things going on in the private sector and society at large. I mean go ahead and make fun of Trump and his supporters all you guys want, some of that is more than justified, but does none of this shit cause you to feel any alarm at all that something might be seriously amiss?
Let's say you're living in an alternate universe where Trump won the election, right wingers controlled Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, and all banking, and all of these same things were happening to Democrats and anyone with a more liberal bent. You'd still think that is just business as usual and it would be totally fine to encourage nationwide federal snitching, cut people off from commerce because of their political beliefs, and conduct enormously pervasive information warfare campaigns demonizing differing viewpoints constantly in the media? That's not even getting into COVID stuff, also, which is its own form of liberty-crushing totalitarian nightmare. I suspect you'd look at this stuff differently if it was you and yours staring down the barrel of it all, whatever you might say as an answer. To put this more simply: if the relative power positions were reversed between the political tribes right now, would you still be making the same arguments? Admitting you're a hypocrite with situational moral beliefs is fine (I have often been guilty of that), but at least be honest about it.
The way I see it, the same kind of anti-terrorism rhetoric and propaganda used to justify two decades of truly heinous mayhem overseas after 9/11 is now being deployed by the incoming regime against a very large segment of American citizens. That isn't "fine" in any possible sense and I am honestly baffled how anyone could actually believe the next four years are going to be just a bland return to form with Uncle Joe and his Homestyle Vanilla-flavored presidency. I'll admit that I don't have a crystal ball, so I don't know for sure that it won't (that would honestly be very nice), but it seems to me that the United States is entering an extremely dangerous era.
