It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

The Hong Kong police detonated a WW1 grenade from Germany yesterday.
Apparently, the live grenade was plucked up from the ground in France when they harvested potatos, send that thing to China and there it was blown up by the local police force.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Driscoll Police Department officers were led on a wild chase Tuesday involving a man in full camouflage and a helmet driving a John Deere tractor on Highway 77.

3News captured the entire chase on camera.
According to Driscoll Police Chief Michael Cantu, it was around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when the suspect was driving his John Deere tractor at a gas station and backed into a Spectrum company van. The driver of the van confronted the suspect, and eventually police were called to the scene.

When officers arrived, the suspect got back on his tractor and drove off. An Driscoll police officer tried to stop him and ended up being dragged several feet, injuring his arm.

Officers pursued the suspect north on Highway 77 until he eventually drove his tractor into a field just north of Farm Road 2826. Police circled the field for some time before sending a four-wheel drive police unit into the field where officers converged on the suspect and removed him from the tractor.

Police said in all, the pursuit lasted over an hour.

Just as we thought then Snopes was at the bottom of the barrel, they menaged to dig a new hole. https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2019...s-fact-checker-suggests-blacklisting-instead/

Snopes on Friday announced it is ending a partnership with Facebook to fact-check information shared to the social media giant, citing a limited amount of resources available for the project.
“After contributing to that effort for two years, we want to inform our readership that Snopes.com has elected not to renew our partnership with Facebook,” a statement via CEO David Mikkelson and Vinny Green, vice president of operations, reads. “At this time we are evaluating the ramifications and costs of providing third-party fact-checking services, and we want to determine with certainty that our efforts to aid any particular platform are a net positive for our online community, publication, and staff.”

According to Snopes, the process of manually flagging false information became too burdensome for its 16-person team. “With a manual system and a closed system — it’s impossible to keep on top of that stuff,” Green said, then floated the option of permanently de-platforming repeat offenders.“Do you need fact-checkers to stop and do all this manual work? Or should fake websites just be reported through other means and supply a body of evidence that these people shouldn’t be on your platform because of their nefarious activity?”

In December 2016, Snopes signed onto become a fact-checker for Facebook — an initiative the technology launch in a bid to crack down on fake news circulating on its platform during the 2016 presidential election. Facebook paid Snopes $100,000 to become a fact-checking partner — an agreement that allegedly had not been fully upheld when the contract between the two parties ended at the end of December.

Poynter reports:

Since then, the fact-checking project has been renegotiating the contract to try and make it easier for fact-checkers to flag falsities on the platform.

Disagreements over the arrangement were contributing factors in the departure of both Brooke Binkowski, Snopes’ former managing editor, and Kim LaCapria, a former fact-checker — both of whom now write for TruthorFiction.com. Both spoke to The Guardianabout the program, saying that it didn’t seem like the company cared about its fact-checking partners.

Doreen Marchionni, Snopes’ recently hired managing editor, said current fact-checkers have aired their concerns about the Facebook partnership in two recent all-hands conference calls. They also expressed their discontent through a newsroom survey.

“It doesn’t seem like we’re striving to make third-party fact checking more practical for publishers — it seems like we’re striving to make it easier for Facebook. At some point, we need to put our foot down and say, ‘No. You need to build an API,’” said Snopes’ chief executive. “The work that fact-checkers are doing doesn’t need to be just for Facebook — we can build things for fact-checkers that benefit the whole web, and that can also help Facebook.”

In France, entire sections of the countryside are walled off because landmines from World War I. All it'll take is a smart kebab to break in for all hell to be unleashed.

I'm surprised the Chinese government didn't intervene to throw the grenade at anti-mainlandisation protesters.

Could you say that you just want to control the web next time? It's obvious that's what you're trying to do.

I get the feeling that they wanted to take control of who Facebook allowed on the platform and they wanted to kick people off obviously butFacebook didn't give in.

Edit: Regarding Snopes, sorry.

Sounds more like they didn't want to spend the entirety of their time fact checking bullshit on Facebook, probably for no money or practically no money, and quit doing it entirely.

I trust Mikkelson over whoever left.

the 100+ year old unexploded ordnance in Northern France is volatile enough due to chemical decomposition and fuze corrosion that if kebabs tried to weaponize it, they would accidentally blow themselves up long before they have a chance to use it in any terror attack.

People are angry about the halftime performance in more ways than one.

They are angry that Adam could go shirtless but Janet Jackson couldn't years ago. I guess men nipples are better than breasts.
I mean... it is weird, if you think about it... but it's also not new. I walk around topless at home, even with children present! But if my wife did that people might have an issue.

These people think you can de-sexualize breasts like we live in some African village. It's something that's absolutely impossible, but it's not like logic has ever stopped them from trying things before.
