British shoppers have slammed Marks & Spencer for making all Percy Pigs vegetarian with some saying they now taste like "washing-up liquid”.
The retailer said it had removed gelatine from the beloved pig-shaped sweets to make the sweets suitable for vegetarians.
"After a lot of hard work (and tasting) we've finally perfected a 100 per cent vegetarian Percy - something our customers have been asking us for, for a while!” an M&S spokesman said.
However fans of the original recipe were quick to describe the new version as less than perfect.
In 2011, M&S introduced a vegetarian version – 'Veggie Percy' – so “even more people could enjoy them”
One person tweeted to M&S: "Why do your percy pigs taste like washing up liquid and have such a strange texture? Really disappointed as they’re basically inedible."

Percy Pigs were first released in 1992. In 2011, M&S introduced a vegetarian version – 'Veggie Percy' – so “even more people could enjoy them”.
However, the retailer has now gradually rolled out the gelatine free recipe as standard.
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan was among those to express outrage over the move.

The 53-year-old spat out the sweet live on air as he ranted about the new recipe on Wednesday.
He said: "Seriously, go and get sweets that aren't called Percy Pig. Go and get ones called kale nicies, right, which taste disgusting but you can all feel happy because they are made of kale.
"Leave our pig sweets alone you people."
TalkRadio presenter Julia Hartley Brewer also announced she had conducted a taste test of the sweets on her breakfast show.
She later tweeted: "Verdict: they taste like Blutac dipped in washing-up liquid. Yuck."
M&S has insisted the new version safeguards “the really important things that people love about Percy”.
A spokesman added: "Rest assured we’ve tested the new recipe thoroughly to make sure he’s as close to the original as possible and we have haven’t changed any of the really important things that people love about Percy; the flavour is the same, he still has real fruit juice and never has artificial colours or flavours.”

Yonkers, NY – Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Charles Gardner held a press conference in Yonkers City Hall announcing investigative progress into the homicide investigation of Marilyn Cotto Montanez and the identity of the alleged shooter.
Wanted for murder is Jamir Thompson, a 15-year-old resident of this City. Investigation has yielded that on the day of the incident, Thompson had taken by force a gold chain from another person; that person and Thompson along with others later engaged in a dispute in the area of Lake Avenue at Morningside Avenue, where it is alleged that Thompson displayed a handgun and fired at least one shot in the direction of the other group – that shot struck Cotto Montanez, an unintended target and innocent victim. A 9MM cartridge casing was recovered from scene.

Thompson fled the area and is believed to be in hiding; he may be receiving assistance from third parties. Yonkers Police Detectives and investigators have been working diligently to enhance this investigation and locate Thompson who may have fled the New York metropolitan area.
The Yonkers Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Thompson. Additionally, anyone found to be harboring Thompson may be subject to arrest and prosecution.

Across 2 studies (N = 1,189), we hypothesized that White privilege lessons may both highlight structural privilege based on race, and simultaneously decrease sympathy for other challenges some White people endure (e.g., poverty)—especially among social liberals who may be particularly receptive to structural explanations of inequality. Indeed, both studies revealed that while social liberals were overall more sympathetic to poor people than social conservatives, reading about White privilege decreased their sympathy for a poor White (vs. Black) person. Moreover, these shifts in sympathy were associated with greater punishment/blame and fewer external attributions for a poor White person’s plight. That's stage one. Next they will lose sympathy for white women (just look at troons and the radfems) and blame them for their plight. After that, fuck the black men, cuz they are men with all that privilege.
Of course, after that, the gay men, then the asian men, then the asian women, then native men, then lesbians, then hispanic men/women, then muslim men, then dragons, then muslim women, then grasshoppers.
At the end, it will only be about five troons with absolutely no human empathy, mentally ill and socially problematic, as everyone realizes we are all the same -- except the troons -- one and the same.
And it will be as it should be (although it was a convoluted detour from what would have happened by the mid-nineties if the intersectioanlists hadn't derailed): All are equal, except troons, but Mike Pence will be ready for them, to cure them of their unempathic mental illness, and push them into the asylums they so richly deserve (unless, of course, the kebabs haven't thrown them off the roof by that point.)

A 9-year-old boy from New England who heard a buzzing in his ear discovered it was an insect that had attached itself to his eardrum.
In a case study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, doctors have detailed how the child visited a pediatric ear, nose and throat specialist after complaining that he could feel something inside his right ear. The boy told doctors he had heard a buzzing noise inside his ear for the past three days.
Before the strange noise started, the boy had been playing outside at his school in Connecticut.
By examining his ear, pediatricians discovered a tick was stuck inside. The surrounding area was inflamed: as shown in a photo of the inside of the boy’s ear.
Despite the odd sensation in his ear, the boy wasn’t suffering from any pain or tinnitus, and his hearing was intact.
Doctors tried to remove the insect burrowed inside the child’s ear with a special microscope, but were unable to take it out. So physicians decided to send the boy for surgery.
The insect had attached itself to his eardrum. Its capitulum—which the tick uses to feed—was buried under a layer of his eardrum. Surgeons were able to remove the bug.
After putting the boy to sleep, surgeons were able to separate the tick's mouth from the eardrum.
The tick was identified as a Dermacentor variabilis, commonly known as the American dog tick. This tick is the primary vector, or carrier of disease, in the U.S.
Once the tick was removed, the boy didn’t have any signs of illness that could have been caught from the tick. He was prescribed an antibiotic to help heal his infected ear. After a month, he was doing well and his ear had healed well, the doctors wrote.
Dr. Erik Waldman, chief of pediatric otolaryngology at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, also worked on the case. She told Live Science it was tough to remove the tick because its mouth was stuck to the boy’s eardrum.
"It wasn't coming out easily," Kasle said.
Dr. David Kasle, an otolaryngology resident at Yale New Haven Hospital, told Live Science this was the first time he had worked on such a case.

A neighborhood menace who got probation for burning down a Boystown home during a year of asinine behavior around Boystown has been handed serious prison time for her latest stunt: robbing a man at knifepoint near the Belmont Red Line station.
Ryan Handzel | CPD
Ryan Handzel, 24, was sentenced to seven years for Class X felony armed robbery by Judge Timothy Chambers in a plea deal that called for prosecutors to drop an additional felony aggravated battery charge. With 369 days credit for time served while awaiting trial and Illinois’ automatic 50% sentence reduction, Handzel is expected to be released on October 15, 2021.
Prosecutors said that Handzel and then-24-year-old Dionte Smith flagged down cops near the 800 block of West Fletcher at 3:30 a.m. on April 21, 2018, and reported that a man had just robbed them. Cops spoke with the alleged robber who said Handzel and Smith had it twisted: They had just punched him in the face and robbed him at knifepoint, according to prosecutors.
A search of Handzel and Smith revealed that they were carrying the real victim’s property, according to police. Both were charged with felony armed robbery. Smith’s case continues to work its way through the court system.
Handzel received probation for this Boystown fire.
In October 2016, Handzel was accused of punching a 24-year-old man in the face two times during an argument in the 800 block of West Waveland. When the victim dropped his cell phone after being hit, Handzel picked it up and handed it to another offender who fled the scene, police said.
Police said Handzel told them, “I hit [the victim] in the head twice, but I didn’t intend to steal [the] phone.” She was charged with battery and theft, but the charges were dropped when the victim failed to appear in court.
Most infamously, Handzel is one of two people convicted of “accidentally” burning down a 126-year-old Boystown home in April 2016.
Handzel and co-offender Keith L. Williams were both sentenced to probation for the fire.
