[tl;dr, van for website that lets attractive women pay for totally real and not fake taxi rides with T&A is abandoned near a cafe for nearly a month. If it's not picked up by the end of the 5th, it'll be seized by council, and auctioned off.]
'It's become a standing joke': Mysterious abandoned van with a PORN site emblazoned on its windows frustrates cafe owners
Mystery surrounds an abandoned van with a seedy logo emblazoned the rear windscreen across that has stopped traffic and become the talk among customers and staff at a busy cafe.
Sunshine Coast business owner Michael Denvir first noticed the unlocked Mercedes Benz Sprinter with a back door slightly ajar in an all-day parking bay outside his Sugar Road Express cafe in Maroochydore three weeks ago.
He reported the van to police several days later, who came out to inspect the vehicle and removed the number plates.
Several weeks on, the van has remained put.
But it's a large sticker emblazoned across the rear windscreen has sparked the most curiosity.
Mr Denvir told Daily Mail Australia he had no idea what the Fake Taxi branding stood for until he was told by staff and customers it referred to a pornography website.
'If it wasn't for the sticker, you and I wouldn't be talking about it right now,' he said.
'It's become a standing joke among everyone who comes in, from walking groups and tradies to white collar workers and lawyers. It's now become a permanent fixture.'
While Mr Denvir sees the funny side of the situation, he wants the van removed to free up parking, which is very limited.
'It hasn't impacted on the cafe, in fact business is better than ever,' he told Daily Mail Australia.
'We understand the police and council have bigger fish to fry. But we would like it it gone.'
A Sunshine Coast Council spokeswoman said it was notified about the van by Queensland Police on June 18.
Council parking officers attended the same day and issued a notice requiring the owner to remove the van by 4pm on Friday.
'If the owner does not move the vehicle at the required date and time, it will be impounded by council and held for one month while council attempts to contact the owner. If the vehicle is not collected it will be sold at auction,' she told Daily Mail Australia
'Impounded vehicles are held in a secure facility managed by council's contractor until they are collected by the owner or sold at auction.'
