It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

'Kittens' brought to animal rescue were baby foxes

fox kit.jpg

Arizona wildlife rescuers are urging the public not to capture newborn kittens -- especially when they turn out to not be kittens at all.

The Arizona Humane Society said a resident recently came to the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center in Scottsdale with a pair of purported kittens they found unattended behind their shed.

Wildlife experts quickly realized the kittens weren't felines at all -- they were gray fox kits.

The AHS said the foxes "will be rehabilitated and released to the wild when they grow old enough."

Officials said the saga should serve as an important reminder to leave baby animals alone.

"DON'T KITNAP KITTENS! We know the first instinct when seeing a litter of kittens is to rush to aid. But in fact, the best thing we can do is leave them for when their mama returns," the post said.

Officials wrote that kittens might be left alone by their mothers for up to eight hours at a time.

No proof man lied to brother about number of kittens born in litter, B.C. tribunal rules

A man was denied a $5,000 payout from his brother after a B.C. tribunal dismissed his claim disputing how many kittens were born in a litter.

The Civil Resolution Tribunal released details of the dispute(opens in a new tab) between Hamza and Salah Nowara Friday. The situation began in April 2023, when Hamza lent his cat to his brother so he could have it breed with his friend's cat.

According to tribunal member Micah Carmody's decision, the brothers agreed Salah would return the cat to Hamza after the kittens were born.

"Salah essentially agrees, but says he was doing Hamza a favour because the cat was in heat and causing Hamza distress," Carmody wrote, adding Salah said Hamza was to receive half the litter.

Salah told the tribunal just two kittens were born in the litter and one died a few days later. Salah's friend kept the remaining kitten.

"Hamza says that Salah is being dishonest about the number of kittens and whether they were sold for profit. However, Hamza does not explain why he thinks this except to say that it is highly unlikely for cats to have a litter of two kittens," Carmody's decision said.

"There is no objective evidence before me about how common or rare it is for a cat to have a litter of two. Also, there is no evidence that Salah sold any kittens."

The tribunal heard Hamza claim he was told he'd get to keep all the kittens. Hamza also claimed at one point the parties didn't have a verbal agreement except that his cat would be returned to him.

"Confusingly, Hamza also says several times that the parties did not have an agreement at all," Carmody wrote. "Despite this, Hamza frames his claim as a breach of contract claim."

No contract?

Carmody explained that, in order to prove a breach of contract, a valid contract must be in place. He explained Hamza hasn't proven – as is his responsibility in bringing this claim forward – that he and his brother "intended to create legal relations as opposed to simply putting two cats together and hoping for kittens."

"Even if there was a contract here, the only clear terms were that Salah would take (the) cat to his friend and return it after breeding," Carmody wrote. "I find Salah complied with those terms."

Carmody also found the parties didn't agree on who owned the kittens or what they would do if only one kitten survived. Once again, Carmody said, Hamza failed to prove a contract was breached.

"Even if he had, it would be difficult to quantify damages given that Hamza did not provide any evidence about a kitten's value," Carmody wrote.

The tribunal also heard claims from Hamza that he suffered mental distress as a result of the dispute, but Carmody determined the evidence presented to him fell "far short of establishing an injury."

All of Hamza's claims were dismissed.

Villager ordered into anger management after throwing salami at woman

Patrick Thomas Heilig

A Villager has been ordered into anger management after throwing salami at a woman.

Patrick Thomas Heilig, 57, has been allowed to enter into a pre-trial intervention contract that could enable him to escape prosecution on charges of battery and resisting arrest if he lives up to the terms of the contract, according to a document on file in Sumter County Court. He must complete 12 hours of anger management and must have only peaceful contact with the woman he attack.

The woman fled on the night of New Year’s Eve to a nearby home in the Village of Liberty Park after 57-year-old Patrick Thomas Heilig threw a piece of salami at her and struck her on the left cheek, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

“I threw it at you to get your attention,” Heilig told the woman.

When deputies arrived at the home, the location of which was redacted from the arrest report, they found Heilig who was completely belligerent.

Deputies attempted to place him into a patrol car, but Heilig, who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds, complained he was too large to fit in the vehicle. A larger Chevy Tahoe model squad car was summoned to the scene, but Heilig continued to refuse to get in. He used his “dead weight” to attempt to prevent deputies from putting him the vehicle.

Here's my idea, hire incredibly obese 600 pound whales to shoplift. They may be slow but there is no technology that would allow the cops to arrest them.

You could probably pay them in food, the only downside being if they have a heart attack half way in then you would need to find another land whale

I really hope they work as a canary that forces other companies to revisit their bean counting strategies and realize they need to start reinvesting in their fundamentals.
I’m super fucking late to this but have to point out, Boeing are the kind of company that will invest millions into Wi-Fi connected screwdrivers that record maintenance activities and torque values while attempting to shave equal or greater savings from labour pool quality degradation. But the thing about these fundamentals is you can never simply reverse course. The edge that was enjoyed for many years and allowed for growth in the first place came from long term stability in the social, environmental, and financial environment your labour pool matured within. Erosion of that base can’t be reversed by the actions of a single corporation or even the government of the nation in any kind of short order. Until someone’s accounting balance factors in about two generations into the future and is willing to take some extreme hits to the next quarters financials, nothing changes and everything continues to get much worse.

A married US Army soldier formerly stationed in Worst Korea had met a Russian prostitute there. As he was supposed to get transferred to Texas, he instead moved to her in Vladivostok, lived with her for a while, then beat and robbed her ($2'200) and got arrested. He's looking at 5 years in a penal colony.

Horrifying. This is worse than when you communist barbarians kidnapped CIA reporter Evan Gershkovich just for stalking workers at a munitions factory.

Kitten rescued from New Jersey storm drain

"Rescue mission!
Last night, when most of us were settled in and watching television, a call came in about a tiny kitten in a storm drain. Not a good place for a baby, especially after yesterday’s rain.
Animal Control Officer Jess grabbed her gear and headed out for what became a three hour ordeal. Jess ended up calling for help and ACO Karen and folks from DPW joined Jess in trying to catch the kitten. Around midnight they set traps, crossed fingers, and headed home.
Back they went this morning to find the kitten sitting ON TOP of the trap hollering for help, eyes all goopy and infected.
Long story short, little girl Stormy is safe and warm at Somerset Regional Animal Shelter! She is receiving nutritious meals, and treatment for her eye infections. She is a friendly little girl who seems very happy to be with us.
Cheers to ACOs Jess and Karen, and the folks from DPW that pitched in to help a tiny kitten in need!"

Animal control officers and public works employees in New Jersey came to the rescue of a kitten found trapped in a storm drain.

The Somerset Regional Animal Shelter said in a Facebook post that Animal Control Officer Jess Ostrowski rushed into action Sunday night when a kitten was reported trapped in a storm drain on Sunny Slope Road in Bridgewater.

Ostrowski ended up calling for backup and Animal Control Officer Karen Fisch responded alongside Bridgewater Department of Public Works employees.

The rescuers initially attempted to lure the kitten into a baited trap.

"We figured the kitten would go into the trap. Instead, we came back in the morning to find her sitting on top of the trap screaming at the top of its lungs," Ostrowski told Patch.

The team then managed to capture the kitten by lowering a net with food on top of it.

The kitten, dubbed Stormy in honor of where she was found, was taken back to the shelter.

"She is doing great today. Now that she is back in the shelter she is not dehydrated, her eyes are cleaned up and her vaccines were given," Ostrowski said.

No, it:s from Telegram channels. Russian state media only says he got arrested for theft,
wished Russians a happy Victory Day, and criticized Biden

Telegram channels say he had beat her back in Worst Korea, she called the cops and got deported.

Continuing the topic of incredible adventures of American lolcows, a drunk American broke into a children's library and was later found in the yard, naked. He got 10 days in jail.

Disclaimer: I don't poast this to mean "Americans in Russia are greater lolcows than Russians in America" -- Russians probably lose in both absolute and relative numbers -- just that, contrary to fearmongering, it's safe to visit as long as you're not a spy or a lolcow.

Get one of your smaller but physically fit mates to stand up straight, completely rigid and unbending. Not actively fighting, just unbending and inflexible. Now get another one of your mates to help you try and get the fucker into the back seat of a car without having to resort to putting a baton to his kidneys. Good luck.

Mama bear takes a swim in California resident's pool

A southern California resident shared video of the moment a family of bears visited their back yard so the mother could take a dip in the pool.

Video posted to Instagram by @RICKYMARTINEZ87 shows the mother bear and two cubs approaching the pool in the Monrovia resident's back yard.

The footage shows the mother climb into the pool for a swim while her cubs watch from dry land -- alongside an inflatable bear pool toy.

The bears were then seen using a large tree in the yard for climbing and scratching before moving along.

The Instagram post said bears are common in the area, but the family featured "the smallest cubs we've ever seen."
