It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

“We knew we had to study this empirically, and I was stunned to discover that about 1 in 20 middle- and high-school-age students have bullied themselves online. This finding was totally unexpected, even though I’ve been studying cyberbullying for almost 15 years.”

Boys were more likely to participate in this behavior (7 percent) compared to girls (5 percent). Their reasons, however, varied dramatically. Boys described their behavior as a joke or a way to get attention while girls said they did it because they were depressed or psychologically hurt. This finding is especially worrisome for the researchers as there may be more of a possibility that this behavior among girls leads to attempted or completed suicide.

To ascertain motivations behind the behavior, the researchers included an open-ended question asking respondents to tell them why they had engaged in digital self-harm. Most comments centered around certain themes: self-hate; attention seeking; depressive symptoms; feeling suicidal; to be funny; and to see if anyone would react. Qualitative data from the study showed that many who had participated in digital self-harm were looking for a response.

This is the guy who started transitioning at 30 after having been a powerlifter. I'm sure 30 years of testosterone, male skeletal structure, and weightlifting haven't given him any sort of advantage. Earlier this year he smashed some NZ records and caused a bit of a stink on account of being a man.

Another New Normal: US Retail Hysteria Sees Bonfires Set Inside Texas Walmart

An eruption of flames inside a Texas Walmart retail facility was recorded by an eager mother who displayed a remarkable calm alongside an illogical death wish.

Police believe that an angry consumer set the blazes on purpose, but have declined to provide a specific motive.

The mother, shopping in the enormous warehouse-like space, asserted to CBS-affiliate Wdbj7.com that she was alerted to the fiery fracas after a uniformed Walmart employee frantically pelted by her.

The curious mother, throwing caution to the winds, quickly whipped out her cell phone and began recording the nearby retail inferno.

"I was like: hang on, let me show the kids," the witness to the pyre of products stated, cited by WDBJ.

In the video, flames could be seen rising to the ceiling of the warehouse, thankfully prompting an attack of common sense that encouraged her to get out of the building.

The local fire marshal reported that two fires were set inside the store, and that the burns were not accidental.

"One was closer to the apparel and the other was on the other side, in the vacuum cleaners section," the fire marshal claimed.

A suspect — who does not work for the world's largest employer — was apprehended and has been questioned.

"Everyone made it out safe," the fire marshal noted.

In a news release, Walmart acknowledged the incendiary incident, and declared that the store would quickly reopen, although no specific time has been set.

No correlation between the destruction of vacuum cleaners and clothing by the arsonist was suggested.
