It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

Staff at a hot dog diner in North Carolina have some extra cash to play with this month thanks to a $10,000 (£7,645) tip from a generous YouTube star.
The Good Samaritan by the name of MrBeast - who has almost nine million subscribers - left the neatly stacked pile of dollar bills on his table at Sup Dogs in Greenville after ordering just two waters.
He had taken only a few sips of his drinks as he perused the menu, only to decide against buying anything else and leaving the huge chunk of change behind for his waitress to find.
Restaurant owner Bret Oliverio said the tip was a 'once in a lifetime' moment
Restaurant owner Bret Oliverio told local TV station WNCT that the waitress kept most of the money and that the rest would be split among all of the staff.
"I've seen some really big tips, but not $10,000," he said.
"Good people are still doing good things these days so I thought it was pretty cool. This was out of the blue, once in a lifetime - it'll never happen again in my lifetime."

10000$ for two mineral waters.

I just checked his YT, so you don't have to. It's all clickbait like this

"Surprising Tfue With $10,000 Live - Fortnite"
"Last To Leave Circle Wins $10,000 - Challenge"
"Tipping Pizza Delivery Guys $10,000"

And so on.

The Pizza clickbait has 17 million views, and it's sponsored, so he doesn't even pay the $10k and makes like $20k from the YT bucks

Stupid clickbait bullshit.

I'd love for it to be something else, but come on. Dude like if you want to throw money around, a 100 or 200 dollar tip when you order 2 waters is probably pushing the boundary of being tacky. Hell leave a thousand or two.

Explosive device found near George Soros’ home: report
An explosive device was "proactively detonated" on Monday after it was found near the Westchester home of billionaire George Soros, according to a report.

The New York Times, citing a law enforcement official, reported that it was unclear if Soros was home at the time. Federal and local authorities responded to the location in Katonah, N.Y., which is in the town of Bedford.

The Bedford Police Department told Fox News that a suspicious package was found in a mailbox. The contents looked like an explosive device. The package was placed in a wooded area while authorities investigated. Police referred Fox News to the F.B.I's New York office, which did not confirm the report.

I'm genuinely surprised this doesn't happen more often, all things considered.

22 Oct 2018
Taiwan will stage a three-day live-fire drill next month on Taiping Island in the disputed waters of the South China Sea to underscore its claimed sovereignty over the Spratly Islands – a move certain to again enrage rival claimant Vietnam.

The drill, expected to be held between 8am and 9pm from November 21 to 23, is expected to hearten Beijing, which has long voiced its claims over the Spratlys, despite disputes with other claimants and invention from the United States.

Beijing is usually angered by Taiwan holding war games to show its defence strength in the face of persistent military threats from the mainland. Taiwan is considered by Beijing to be a wayward province to be unified with the mainland by force if necessary.

However, next month’s drill is over the South China Sea, where both Taipei and Beijing have maritime claims opposing Vietnam over the Spratly Islands.

“Beijing’s sovereignty claim over the Spratlys is consistent with that of Taipei’s, and any live-fire drills on Taiping only serve to reinforce the mainland’s sovereignty over the region, given that Beijing considers Taiwan a part of China,” said Wang Kung-yi, a professor of political science at Chinese Culture University in Taipei.

The drill will involve firing into the sea and air in the area around Taiping Island – known internationally as Itu Aba – using 40mm grenade machine guns and other weapons, officials of Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration said on Tuesday.

“It is a routine shooting practice, which we have held for years,” Tsai Tzung-hsien, head of the public relations department of the coastguard, told the South China Morning Post.

The exercise, to be held in areas within 5 nautical miles of Taiping, was aimed at safeguarding the integrity of Taiwan’s territory and strengthening the island’s defence capability, Tsai said, adding that the drill would not endanger the passage of foreign vessels or safety of countries close to Taiping, which had been notified – including Vietnam.

Fishing and other vessels, as well as aircraft, were advised not to operate near the area during the three days of the drill.

The South China Sea disputes involve island and maritime claims by Brunei, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. With an estimated US$5 trillion worth of global trade passing through the South China Sea annually, many non-claimant states including the US and Australia want it to remain international waters and have launched “freedom of navigation” operations.

Vietnam has previously accused Taiwan of trying to upset stability in the region by staging live-fire drills in the disputed Spratly chain. Calling the Taiwanese drills a serious violation of its sovereignty and a threat to maritime security, it has warned it could send forces to take Taiping within two hours.

With an area of 0.51 sq km, Taiping is the largest naturally formed island in the Spratly group, and can sustain human habitation and economic activity.

Asked what sorts of weapons would be used, Tsai said: “We will test the responsiveness of both our light and heavy weapons as well as our personnel.”

Count on the mainstream media to "debunk" the "myths" about the Hondurian migrants. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/five-myths-about-honduran-caravan-debunked-n922806

Five myths about the Honduran caravan debunked
Short answer: Take what Donald Trump and Rep. Matt Gaetz say about the caravan with more than a few grains of salt.

Oct. 22, 2018 / 2:56 PM EDT
By Julia Ainsley and Daniella Silva

WASHINGTON — A caravan of thousands of Honduran migrants is headed north in hopes of crossing the U.S. border. You may have heard some scary things about it. What's true and what's false? Here are five allegations bouncing around the internet that are definitely "alternative facts."

MYTH 1: It's being funded by Democrats.

President Donald Trump said at a campaign rally on Thursday that "a lot of money has been passing to people" traveling north from Honduras. A Republican from Florida, Rep. Matt Gaetz, shared a short video that Trump later promoted of migrants being given cash and suggested that they were being funded by left-leaning activist and investor George Soros.

Vogue apologizes after Kendall Jenner photoshoot is criticised for 'cultural appropriation.'

Because the audience was too stupid to realize that it was an Edwardian Gibson Girl look. Yet they still apologized because everyone freaked out and said it was an afro.

Taken by fashion photographer Mikael Jansson, both images were intended to celebrate 15 years of the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund, an annual prize that rewards emerging designers.

The snaps of Jenner prompted people to ask why the magazine had cast her instead of a model whose hair was naturally styled like that.

"For years we have been penalized about our looks and especially our hair, It is a slap in the face when non-Blacks try to imitate our look," one person commented.

"The image is meant to be an update of the romantic Edwardian/Gibson Girl hair which suits the period feel of the Brock Collection, and also the big hair of the '60s and the early '70s, that puffed-out, teased-out look of those eras," the magazine told E! News on Tuesday.

"We apologise if it came across differently than intended, and we certainly did not mean to offend anyone by it."

BBC said:
A UK police force's image of a Ross Geller "lookalike" has drawn thousands of comedy responses.

Officers shared the CCTV still of the man, dubbed the "spitting image" of Friends actor David Schwimmer, clutching a crate of beer.

Within minutes, fans of the 90s sitcom had bombarded Blackpool Police's Facebook post with jokes inspired by show .

Police later said Schwimmer was not in the UK at the time of the offence.

"Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date," they wrote.

"We're so sorry it has to be this way."

As comments on the post descended into something of a Friends quote-fest, a number of the 50,000 users who chipped in referenced the show's chart-topping theme song.

"I don't think it's been this guy's day, his week, his month or even his year," wrote Nick Croston, while Olly Byrne quipped: "I'm suprised you've not found him... it's like you're always stuck in second gear."

'Pivot!'
Others, such as Joe Richardson, riffed on some of Ross's most well-known quotes.

"Shouldn't he be at work...or is he on a break?", asked Joe.

While Jay Murdoch wrote: "Apparently the police had him cornered then he performed a pivot manoeuvre and escaped."

Craig Thompson added: "I saw him behind me in the shop around that time.. just as I was paying for MY SANDWICH."

Scottish police also got in on the act, with bobbies in Dumfries and Galloway sharing the post and warning members of the public to "keep away" from the suspect.

"He is known to have studied Karate and we believe he has mastered the art of Unagi, the state of total awareness," they wrote.

Image captionCould he BE any more innocent? Police said the real Schwimmer was not in the UK at the time of the offence
However, some commentators reminded their fellow Friends fans that a real-life crime had been committed.

"He's a thief and it's serious," wrote Grace Higham. "But these comments are hilarious."

Police appealed for anyone with brand new information about the theft, which took place at Mr Basrai's restaurant on Talbot Road 20 September, to contact them.

The suspect is wanted for the alleged theft of a jacket, wallet and mobile from the restaurant. Police released the CCTV image of the suspect buying beer from a shop.

Schwimmer starred in Friends from 1994 until its finale in 2004.

It is not known whether the Emmy-nominated star has visited the Lancashire seaside resort, known for its Pleasure Beach and annual illuminations.

I went to high school with a girl -- a WHITE girl -- whose hair looked almost exactly like that. Naturally. Are people not aware that not every white person in the world has stick straight hair?

I think Vogue should have said "we're sorry none of you know what Gibson Girls are."

Reactions: The Shadow
This is kinda random and I didn't know where exactly to post it, feel free to fire shots if it's in the wrong place.

On a site I frequent a woman is randomly accusing a pretty well-known Mexican metal musician of either raping her or holding her down so his friend could rape her. This story seems to be attached to a small but rising submovement within #MeToo called #MetalMeToo or something.

She made a huge post:

dh.jpg

And also posted a video version (unlisted) of her basically recounting the story:

The musician in question is Roberto Lizarraga.

She also provided two (of apparently many messages according to her) messages of other women corroborating that this guy and his friend are sleazy/rapists:

Transgender student charged in brutal attack at Tomball High School says she was bullied

https://abc13.com/transgender-student-charged-in-brutal-attack-at-tomball-high/4549561/

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) --
One person has been arrested after a brutal attack in the hallway of Tomball High School.

The incident was captured on video and shows a transgender student, identified as Travez Perry by Tomball Police, violently kicking and punching two other students as witnesses looked on in shock.

Perry has been charged with assault, but her attorney told a judge that Perry is transitioning and "There's more to this story than meets the eye."

The Tomball police report states that one male student was kicked in the face and knocked unconscious, while a female student was struck in the face with Perry's knee.

According to the police report, Perry told police that the female student had been bullying her and posted a photo of her on social media with a negative comment.

The two students were taken to the hospital. The male student's mother said her son is at home and doing okay, but declined to share additional details about what led up to the altercation.

Perry was arrested. She is out on bond.

The Tomball school district said they are aware of the incident and are working with police, releasing a statement that reads in part, "Tomball ISD will not tolerate this behavior and will apply the student code of conduct in a stern and efficient manner."

The district does have an app for reporting bullying, but it's not clear if that was used in this case or if school officials knew about the bullying
