It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

"The helicopter tried to land in an access road close to a toll station. But then the truck came and they crashed. The fire occurred because of the collision," Paiva said.

Police Captain Augusto Paiva said the truck driver suffered only minor injuries.

Feb 10, 2019

Towson University police have asked students and staff to be on the lookout for a woman in her 50s wearing a multicolored scarf. She’s looking for a date for her son.

Students complained to officers that she approached them last week in two campus buildings, the Cook Library and Center for the Arts, showing them a picture on her cell phone and asking if they were interested in dating her son.

It caused enough of a disturbance that police alerted students via an “incident advisory” that included a link to surveillance footage of the woman. They asked anyone with information about the woman or the incidents to contact university police at 410-704-4444.

University officials said the woman isn’t being sought for any criminal investigation, but simply to put the behavior to a stop.

“This incident advisory is being provided in order to make the TU Community aware of an incident on campus that may cause concern,” Charles Herring, chief of the university police department, wrote in an e-mail to the campus community. “This advisory is intended to heighten awareness and inform the community of incidents that may impact their safety and security.”

So... cell phone as an attraction sign maybe?

All this is like "does this dress make me look fat." Bitch, the dress is innocent, you are fat.

Yeah. When men, who are already at a woman's house, decide whether or not they'll spend more time with her, they base that decision on how they decorate. Everyone knows Men are very very conscious of interior decorating...

I do like that the scam artist calls herself an "Interiors therapist"

Like, she can't even use proper grammar and say "Interior therapist" for her made up job.

EDIT: Oh damn it's a .UK, those goofballs probably think that's a normal way to talk.

An active freeway being the best spot the pilot could possibly set down the helicopter in time speaks to the direness of the situation they found themselves in. It's a miracle no motorists were killed as well. A shitty last few moments to life but at least it was probably quick. All around tragic. RIP in peace, dudes.

Two young people took the time to stop playing and recite the Pledge of Allegiance as a flag was raised at Roseboro Fire Department in North Carolina — and now the moment is going viral.

The photo, which was shared on Friday by the Roseboro Fire Department, shows two boys who stopped at an intersection in their town with their hands over their hearts, as Chaplain Bobby Herring was raising the U.S. flag.

“This afternoon as Chaplain Herring was raising the U.S. flag to full staff, he looked over to the intersection and saw these two young people standing there with hands on their heart saying the pledge of allegiance,” the post read. “God bless our community.”

The boys, who according to Raleigh, N.C., news station WRAL are cousins, were riding their scooter and hoverboard, respectively, when they noticed the flag being raised.

The original post has been shared nearly 3,000 times and received a number of heartwarming comments.

Roseboro Fire Department identified the boys on Monday as Derrick Tyrone Ingram Jr. and Thomas Edwards Jones Jr., the Charlotte Observer reported, and their act has left their family proud. “My son and my nephew,” Ladii J Ingram shared on the Facebook post. When told she should be proud of her son and nephew, she responded, “I am, this made my whole day.” Others heaped on praise, writing, “Thank you for instilling respect in your young men!”

“Their response was taught, and taught well,” posted one person. “Please congratulate these young men for the respect they showed our great flag and our great nation. They are setting the example for others to follow.”

“The fact that they stood there showing respect without being prompted to do so says a lot about how they are being raised, another wrote on the fire department’s Facebook post.

Ms. Ingram did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.

Viktor Orbán delivers his state of the nation speech in Budapest on Sunday.

Hungary’s populist prime minister, Viktor Orbán, has promised that women who have four or more children will never pay income tax again, in a move aimed at boosting the country’s population.

Orbán, who has emerged as Europe’s loudest rightwing, anti-immigration voice in recent years, said getting Hungarian families to have more children was preferable to allowing immigrants from Muslim countries to enter.

“In all of Europe there are fewer and fewer children, and the answer of the west to this is migration,” said Orbán in his annual state of the nation address on Sunday. “They want as many migrants to enter as there are missing kids, so that the numbers will add up. We Hungarians have a different way of thinking. Instead of just numbers, we want Hungarian children. Migration for us is surrender.”

Orbán’s Fidesz party won a third consecutive electoral victory last year on an anti-migration platform, and the Hungarian prime minister rarely gives a speech without presenting the upcoming years as a do-or-die battle for the future of Europe. He has voiced a hope that after elections in May, all European institutions will be controlled by “anti-migration forces”.

He has repeatedly claimed that the Hungarian-born American financier and philanthropist George Soros, a favoured target of the far right across the globe, is masterminding a conspiracy to destroy Europe by promoting mass migration.

A participant holds up a flare during a protest against Orbán on the day of his state of the nation address.

“The people of Europe have come to a historic crossroads,” Orbán said on Sunday, criticising the “mixed population countries” that result from allowing migration. The process was moving so quickly, he said, that the transformation of previously Christian countries into those where Christians were a minority would happen in his lifetime. “There is no return ticket,” he said.

Demographic decline is a problem in many societies in central and eastern Europe, with millions of people leaving countries such as Hungary, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria in the years after their accession to the EU for higher salaries in western Europe. This, combined with low birth rates, has contributed to shrinking populations and fuelled fears of dying communities across the region.

Instead of looking to migration to solve the labour shortages and population decline, populist governments have rejected this option. Orbán built a wall along the country’s southern border to keep migrants out during the 2015 refugee crisis, and government-controlled media frequently links migration to moral decline and terrorism in western Europe.

As the prime minister spoke, anti-Orbán protesters gathered in Budapest for the latest in a series of rallies against the government which began in December after parliament passed a “slave law” allowing employers to demand more overtime from workers. The law is seen as another result of the demographic problems in the country, as a labour shortage means jobs cannot be filled. The political opposition to Orbán is divided, however, and the protest momentum appears to have diminished.

Orbán has declared the main focus of his current term in office to be the demographic situation, and his government launched a “public consultation” last year, mailing questionnaires with a number of leading questions about migration and family policy to every Hungarian household.

On Sunday, he announced a number of measures to support larger families in addition to the lifetime income tax break for women with more than four children. He also promised favourable mortgage terms for families with multiple children, support for families with three or more children to buy a car, and increased funding for daycare centres and kindergartens.
Once again, Center and Eastern Europe showing the rest of the western world how it's done.
