It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

I love how losing 0.2% of their annual revenue to theft is enough to get the council to start screeching about gangs of crooks and urging cashless payment. Like, maybe just wait until you've lost, oh, at least few percentage points to do that, right now it just comes off as greedy.

It's happening in a posh area, of course something's going to be done.

Black people stealing shit is news?!

I thought it was a bona fide law of physics at this point

Are people seriously saying leader of the jews is a nazi?

I think I'm in the Bearenstun universe, I wanna go back.
The Nazis are the go-to Fascists that everyone talks about because they were so splashy, but the best example of a Fascist government based on longevity is Franco's Spain.

Timmy Boomer convicted of 'Outraging public decency':

Kid gets life destroyed for upskirting teachers: if he had killed them he would have been anonymous for ever.

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-47388359
A teenager who took upskirt pictures of two teachers at a Fermanagh school has been found guilty of committing acts of outraging public decency.
Timothy Boomer, 18, was charged with five counts of committing an act of a lewd, obscene and disgusting nature and outraging public decency.
He took five pictures of two female teachers at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in 2015 and 2016, when he was 14 and 15.
He is no longer a pupil at the school.
'Daredevil prank'
In statement Boomer apologised for the "distress, worry and pain" his actions had brought about.
"It was a wrong, horrible thing to do and at that age I stupidly and wrongly thought it was a daredevil prank, which I genuinely meant no harm by," he added.
A panel of magistrates at Enniskillen Youth Court rejected a defence argument that it was a "schoolboy prank" and not a criminal offence.
Teachers' union NASUWT has welcomed the guilty verdict, saying it would hopefully provide the teachers with a sense of closure and allow them to move on from "these distressing events".
The union's members had to endure a violation of having intimate images taken of them and several years before the case was brought to court, said NASUWT General Secretary Chris Keates.
Illustration of upskirting

The verdict sent out a clear message to pupils that engaging in such degrading behaviour was completely unacceptable, she said.
"This case has highlighted the inadequacy of current laws around sexual harassment in Northern Ireland," added Ms Keates.
"Legislation has failed to keep up with the advent of mobile technology and it is clear new powers are needed to create an offence of upskirting, which would bring Northern Ireland into line with the laws in England and Scotland."
The case
Images taken by the teenager were discovered on a memory stick in an ICT room at the school.
The court was told there was no evidence that the images had been shared with any third party.
The defendant did not appear in court or give evidence and was absent again for the judgement.
The fact that the images were taken by the pupil were not in dispute, but the case centred on legal definitions of the offence.

There is currently no criminal law of "upskirting" in Northern Ireland.
But making upskirting a criminal offence is one of the proposals in a review of laws around Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
The Department of Justice (DoJ) has launched a consultation on potential changes to legislation in Northern Ireland.
Upskirting has recently become a criminal offence in England and Wales.
Defence barrister Frank O'Donoghue QC said "the prosecution is trying to shoehorn the facts of this case into the current unsatisfactory state of the law".
The chairman of the youth panel, Judge Michael Ranaghan, said the acts of filming up the skirts using a mobile phone "cannot have been envisaged when the common law offence was written".
He said "there is a need to update the statute book to take account of advances in modern technology".
The verdict
In reaching their verdict the panel ruled that the images were lewd, obscene and disgusting.
Although there was restricted access to the school, the judge said a school setting was different from a home in terms of expectations of privacy.
He said that teachers and pupils did form members of the general public and the school was a public place.
He said the elements of common law had been satisfied and they made a finding of guilt in respect of the five charges.
The two teachers hugged each other at the conclusion of the judgement and said they would need time to gather their thoughts at the end of a lengthy judicial process.
A sentencing hearing will take place next month.
Boomer said he recognised the "devastating impact" on his teachers, parents, and family.
"My regrets will be with me for the rest of my life," he added.

Could we call this a thirst of power for the Democrats?

The Oregon kids' vote
By Richard Kirk
After exiting the tax-happy Gilded State, a fair number of its loopy citizens who could no longer afford skyrocketing housing prices or tolerate crowded freeways migrated to nearby Oregon, a state that competes with California for the honor of championing the most “progressive” ideas in the nation -- e.g. assisted suicide, legalized weed, rent control, and banning those thin plastic bags that presumably constitute an existential threat to the planet.
Recently Oregon’s legislature began touting a proposal similar to one the late California State Senator John Vasconcellos floated in 2004. Back then Vasconcellos proposed giving partial votes to teenagers. Fourteen- and fifteen-year-olds would receive quarter-votes while their sixteen- and seventeen-year-old siblings would wield twice as much electoral clout. Oregon’s legislators, by contrast, are considering a bill that would give a full 100% vote to sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds while leaving younger kids disenfranchised, at least for the moment.
Any honest political observer knows why Democrats wish to drop the voting age to include individuals who can’t join the military, own firearms, or enter into legal contracts. The reason is that emotional, easily manipulated teenagers are overwhelmingly likely to vote for Democrats -- as is undoubtedly the case with those “undocumented immigrants” that San Francisco now includes in local elections. Rising in opposition to the Oregon bill, the Senate Republican leader observed, “This is nothing more than an attempt to expand the voter rolls to sway elections.” Omitted from his statement were the words “toward Democrats.”
If Oregon passes this legislation, it may be only a matter of time till its sponsors propose (bit by bit) constitutional amendments that enfranchise, perhaps fractionally, all its citizens -- bills that allow both grade-schoolers and toddlers the opportunity to participate in the democratic process in both state and federal elections. The conservative view that language-acquisition (to say nothing of I.D.) should be a voting prerequisite will doubtless be portrayed as a corrupt attempt to suppress the vote by “ageist” opponents of full representation.
So how bad can it get? If the adult citizens of New York can elect the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, think about a future when the kids who recently lectured California Senator Dianne Feinstein about AOC’s “Green New Deal” enter the voting booth.

Sully, George H.W. Bush's dog, starts new job with wounded U.S. service members, veterans

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Lifting his thick paw to shake, former President George H.W. Bush’s service dog took an oath to serve at Walter Reed National Medical Center on Wednesday, embarking on a new job helping disabled American veterans and active-duty service members.
Sully H. W. Bush became famous as canine caretaker and constant companion to the 41st U.S. president in the final stages of his life. In the Capitol rotunda after Bush’s death in 2018, Sully faithfully laid down beside Bush’s casket.

In his new role as a hospital “foreman” in a Walter Reed facility outside Washington, Sully’s duties are to provide support, comfort and cheer to wounded veterans, their families and facility staff, thus reducing stress and increasing positive feelings, the medical center said.
“Sully will go on to spread his love at Walter Reed Hospital. He was a loving companion when my Gampy needed him most,” Jenna Bush Hager, Bush’s granddaughter, posted on Twitter on Thursday.

The yellow Labrador is one of seven dogs working at the facility in Bethesda, Maryland. Collectively, they “average 2,500 contacts and over 200 working hours per month,” according to the medical center. He is about 2-1/2 years old, according to America’s Vetdogs, the organization that trained him.
During the ceremony, which was posted in a video on Facebook, Sully prompted laughter from the audience when he raised his head and dipped his chest to stretch before taking his oath to care for veterans “without any promise of treats or tummy rubs.” Afterwards, he was fitted with a “military uniform,” a new vest he will wear while working.
Sully was named after Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who landed a U.S. Airways passenger jet in the Hudson River after both engines lost thrust when the aircraft struck a flock of geese while taking off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport.

Could we call this a thirst of power for the Democrats?

Ideas like that immediately die when the young turn right, getting the minors to vote is about getting the naive to vote, it's left:ish grab for power as you say. For a long time that idea have been proposed in Sweden, when minors largely leaned idealistically Left/Green. The opposition said that having no life experience would be bad and any voting decisions would be uninformed, but no life experience certainly helps youth believe in lofty political axioms.
Then the schools got culturally enriched and many minors started having ideas about the current politics, they had opinions and grievances about their everyday existence which was the environment in and around schools, and concerns about their future.
So minors will never be able to vote here.
Because they suddenly got some life experience.

UK makes it illegal to deny illegal immigrants of rent.

The "Right to Rent" scheme, which requires landlords to check the immigration status of tenants, was introduced in England in 2016.
Judges said it would be illegal to roll it out in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland without further evaluation.

All the illegals want to be in England so no real impact.

Authorities allege George Carty, 20, drove from his Lowell, Massachusetts home in June to paint a swastika and the phrase “National Socialist Legion” at Nashua High School North.

The officer investigating the offensive graffiti used security video, a tip from another officer, Google maps, social media and Westford, Massachusetts police reports to track down the suspect, according to reports filed in court.
This resulted in the arrest of Carty on one count of misdemeanor criminal mischief, which accuses him of driving to Nashua High School North in the early morning hours of June 13, stopping in a small lot off Titan Way, allegedly spray painting a swastika and the phrase “National Socialist Legion,” taking photos of it then leaving about eight minutes later, the reports state.
Police picked up Carty the afternoon of Jan. 22, booked him on the charge and released him to his parents on personal recognizance bail. He later entered a plea of not guilty and waived formal arraignment, at which time a Nashua district court judge scheduled a pre-trial conference for 8:15 a.m. April 18 in the Nashua court.
Documents in Carty’s court file indicate he intends to “assert his right to a speedy trial.” He is being represented by Nashua attorney Tim Bush.
Nashua police officer Kevin Clancy, who initiatied the investigation, said in his report he was on duty as the school resource officer at NHS North when a school security officer informed him of the graffiti.
Clancy said he went out to the lot to take a look at, and photograph, the graffiti. He then got together with the security officer to start reviewing the surveillance videos.
Just before 2:40 a.m. the night of the incident, Clancy wrote, a vehicle he would later associate with Carty appears on the video and turns into a small parking lot about halfway down Titan Way.
He described the driver getting out, walking several feet from the vehicle, then getting back in before getting out again to apparently take a photo. When the suspect got into the car and turned on the headlights, Clancy said he could read the words “National Socialist Legion” on the pavement.
Clancy was also able to read the license plate on the vehicle, a 2001 white Lincoln Navigator, which he later determined was registered to a person with the last name Carty, of 80 Sayles St., Lowell.
Clancy wrote that he did a Facebook search for the name, and found a “mutual friend” named George Carty. In perusing Carty’s Facebook page, Clancy alleged, he “observed some disturbing posts regarding race and genocide.”
About two weeks later, Clancy wrote, a Nashua police detective brought to his attention information he’d received from a Westford, Massachusetts detective regarding an arrest made in “racist/flyer/tagging” allegations in Westford. Clancy said the suspect information, including the description of the Lincoln, matched Carty’s.
Westford police arrested Carty after a resident walked into police headquarters and told officers a man was driving around in the town’s Nabnasset neighborhood and hanging racist flyers on poles.
According to a Lowell Sun story at the time, police stopped the car and identified the driver as Carty, who allegedly told them he “randomly chose to come to Westford” to post flyers warning of “white genocide” and advocating for “race purity.”
Police said they found numerous flyers in Carty’s vehicle, along with a stapling gun, spray paint, duct tape, “racist stickers” and a “manifesto” Carty allegedly wrote, and which contained “hateful speech.”
