It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

1:00 minute in, Bush also called them "people". Argument invalid and Republicans aren't self aware to realize they're hypocrites too.

This is a presidential speech at Ground Zero which as far as i am aware appears to have been taken in 2001 "days after 9/11", did you expect him to rant about Islam?

That particular example is useful as nothing more than a showpiece in PR.

No I expect people to hold standards.

Lol. The tab for this website literally says "Conservative news, politics, opinion, breaking news analysis, political cartoons and commentary-Townhall" This is just like a Huffington Post article discussing how icky Republicans except in reverse. Anybody, whether they're Republican or Democrat, who writes something this blatantly biased and partisan should be shot out of a cannon.

Brazilian President Bolsonaro menaged to be more Trump than Trump by angering Israel about what he said about the Holocaust.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/13/world/middleeast/bolsonaro-holocaust-forgive-israel.html ( http://archive.li/QOpX4 )

President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil drew Israel’s ire on Saturday for saying the crimes of the Holocaust are forgivable.
Mr. Bolsonaro made the comments Thursday night at a meeting with evangelical pastors in Rio de Janeiro. He was talking about his visit to the Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem earlier this month.
“We can forgive. But we cannot forget,” he said of the Holocaust, adding that action was needed to ensure its horrors were not repeated. “Those who forget the past are condemned to not have a future,” he added.

President Reuven Rivlin of Israel and Israel’s Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial criticized the right-wing Brazilian leader, who has come under fire before for his controversial statements on other subjects.
“We will never forgive and never forget,” Mr. Rivlin said on Twitter. Without mentioning Mr. Bolsonaro by name, he went on with a message clearly directed at him.

“Political leaders are responsible for shaping the future. Historians describe the past and research what happened. Neither one should stray into the territory of the other,” he said.
Yad Vashem, the center in Jerusalem that serves as a memorial to the six million Jews murdered by Nazis during World War II, also took issue with Mr. Bolsonaro’s comments.
“We disagree with the Brazilian president’s statement that the Holocaust can be forgiven,” the center said, according to Israeli media reports.
This month, Mr. Bolsonaro visited Israel for four days and traveled to Yad Vashem with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He stirred controversy during the visit when he echoed an earlier remark by his foreign minister, who said Nazism was a leftist movement.

Florida man keeps cassowary as pet. Cassowary makes brave bid for freedom, strikes down its jailor.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...ant-bird-kills-owner-in-florida-after-he-fell

A cassowary – a large, flightless bird native to Australia and Papua New Guinea – has killed its Florida owner when it attacked him after he fell.

The fire rescue department in Alachua county told the Gainesville Sun newspaper the cassowary killed the man on Friday on his property near Gainesville, in the north of the state, likely using its long claws. The victim, whose name was not released, was apparently breeding the birds, state wildlife officials said.

“It looks like it was accidental. My understanding is that the gentleman was in the vicinity of the bird and at some point fell. When he fell, he was attacked,” the deputy chief, Jeff Taylor, told the newspaper.

Cassowaries are similar to emus. They can be up to 2 meters (6ft) tall and weigh up to 60kg (130lb), with black body feathers and bright blue heads and necks.

The San Diego zoo’s website calls cassowaries the world’s most dangerous bird with a 10cm dagger-like claw on each foot.

“The cassowary can slice open any predator or potential threat with a single swift kick. Powerful legs help the cassowary run up to 31 miles per hour (50km/h) through the dense forest underbrush,” the website says.

Cassowaries are not raised for food in the US, but are sought after by collectors.

It is not clear what happened to the bird.

A five foot woman having quadruplets could flat out fucking die and even if not is going to have shit happen to undercarriage that makes the firebombing of Dresden look like a rash. Complications could kill not only her but all the fetuses. It's pretty routine to cull in that situation.

And you need some criterion for it. It's not like she decided to have a litter.
C-Sections exist.

I don't know if it warrants its own thread, but this is becoming it's own "gate" of sorts but without the autistic faction-off effect others do. Apple is deleting feedback and also banning accounts that have been used to report a widespread issue in regards to the usual water damage and data recovery processes. They are flat out saying independent repair are a scam and that, in fact, data recovery is impossible. This is also denying that forensics exist for computer storage and had existed for decades. Apple is lying by omission to prevent you from being given back your personal property.

Louis and Jessa are awesome for IRL trolling Apple like this.

Imagine my face when I read this. Is anybody really surprised the Islam-loving Democrats that refuse to condemn Islam would refuse to call the 9/11 hijackers terrorists?

Could be worse. The leader of a pro-immigration/pro-muslim party who holds the record of getting islamists(including the unofficial representative of the Muslim Brotherhood*) into important positions in the Swedish parliament, called 9/11 "the accident in New York" on national TV.

Wow that's a badly written sentence.

*he was later ousted for repeatedly cozying up to the grey wolves, a violent Turkish right wing ultranationalistic and neo-fascist group. He had a long series of fuck ups that he got away with for years, among them saying that Swedish muslims going to Syria and joining ISIS to fight was no different than Swedish people volunteering to fight alongside the Finns in the Winter War, that was during the election campaign for his party at the biggest political get together of the year, a sort of Swedish state of the union that goes on for a week.

Shortly after that he was the appointed minister for housing and urban development.

Gillette posted an ad with a morbidly obese woman in a swimsuit and people are Mad.

From "The Federalist":

The model’s cascading fats melt away into the sea foam, and the lines created by the edges of her arms direct the eye towards the crisp red of the lipstick on her mouth, which also happens to be the only non-voluptuous part on her. Next we notice the slimming dangling earrings and the relatively small chest. I see that ad not as an attempt to celebrate fatness, but as an effort to normalize it.

Ew

When intersectional activists try to get populist on beauty, proposing the idea that every woman is beautiful, they fail to acknowledge that historically beauty ideals have been rare, impossible, and often painful and unnatural (see corsets, foot binding, and neck elongating). There is beauty in real people inasmuch as inner beauty shines through the vessel that is human body, but the ideals of beauty trend unreal.

Contrary to fatness activists’ protests, Western patriarchy is not oppressing them. Western patriarchy keeps their unhealthy bodies alive (I realize medical conditions may make it impossible for some people to lose weight).

There is something incredibly sad about women demanding to be seen as beautiful. There is something wrongheaded about the assumption that beauty ideals do not arise in a society but are simply imposed by the fashion business, and that political clout can be exchanged for feeling good about one’s looks. It’s a simplistic view of beauty, a simplistic view of power, and questionable psychotherapy.

From CBS:

Some commenters defended O'Brien while keeping their aim focused on Gillette. "There's no reason to be rude or unkind to someone who is obese and there is no reason @GilletteVenus should be encouraging life threatening obesity. This would also be true if they used an anorexic model. I wish the model they used well but Gillette should know better," @robbystarbuck said.

Neither morbidly obese or anorexic people should be portrayed as beacons of beauty. The only difference is if Eugenia Clooney was a model, people would immediately recognize it as promoting eating disorders. Binge eating though? No, no, it's beauty at ever size.

A company that views female arm hair as obscene but is willing to promote unnatural obesity makes no sense.

The essayist of the far-right Alain Soral, was sentenced this Monday, April 15, by the correctional court of Paris to a year in prison with an arrest warrant, to challenge the existence of the Holocaust.

The essayist, sentenced for having published on its website the conclusions in issue of his counsel in another case, was not present at the reading of the advisement. His counsel, Damien Viguier, was sentenced to 5,000 euros fine for aiding and abetting, because of the content of these conclusions.

Last march, Alain Soral had been sentenced for having published a cartoon denying the holocaust to 10,000 euros fine. In April 2016, the site of Alain Bonnet, said Soral, Equality, and Reconciliation, had then published a cartoon depicting on one titled “Chutzpah Hebdo” the face of Charlie Chaplin in front of the star of David, with a bubble, the question of “Shoah ” where are you?”, reference to a controversy of “Charlie Hebdo” after the attack in Brussels, “Dad, where are you?”.

Man sues parents for 'destroying' his valuable porn collection
The son said his father told him in an email that he had destroyed the porn for his son's "mental and emotional health."

An Indiana man is suing his parents for destroying his porn collection, which he claimed was worth almost $29,000.

In a lawsuit filed last week in federal court in Michigan, the man said he moved to Indiana after living with his parents in Grand Haven, Michigan, for 10 months after a divorce.

He said he did household chores in lieu of paying rent, according to court documents.

In December 2017, the lawsuit says, his parents delivered boxes of his belongings to his residence in Indiana, but they were missing many of his possessions.

The man asked his parents about the "missing property," and they said "the items were destroyed," the lawsuit states.

In a January 2018 email that was part of the lawsuit, the father admitted to destroying some of his son's belongings.

"I do not possess your pornography. It is gone," the email said. "It has been either destroyed or disposed of. I may well have missed a few items that are now in your possession but, at this point, if you don't have it, it is gone. Ditto for your sex toys and smutty magazines."

His father also said in the email that it "took quite a while" to destroy 12 moving boxes full of pornography and two boxes of "sex toys."

"I did you a big favor by getting rid of all this stuff for you," the email stated.

Unable to come to a resolution with his parents, the man said he filed a police report with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department in Michigan in which he alleged the value of his collection to be $10,000 to $30,000, factoring in his "emotional attachment" to the items. He told officers he wanted to file charges against his parents for the destruction of his property, according to the police report.

The man's mother told police that she and his father had asked their son not to bring any of his pornography into their house before he moved in because they knew he "had issues with it." The parents kicked him out after a domestic incident, the police report states.

After the prosecutor's office declined to press charges, the man wrote his father an email.

"If you had a problem with my belongings, you should have stated that at the time and I would have gone elsewhere. Instead you choose to keep quiet and behave vindictively," he wrote, according to the lawsuit.

His father allegedly responded that one reason "I destroyed your porn was for your own mental and emotional heath. I would have done the same if I had found a kilo of crack cocaine. Someday, I hope you will understand."

The man later reached out to investigators again, allegedly sending one officer 44 emails listing movies he said his parents had destroyed, many of which he claimed were valuable, difficult-to-get films.

The prosecutor again declined to file charges.

The man is seeking $86,822.16 in damages and attorneys' fees.

His attorney, Miles Greengard, declined to comment.

The man's parents could not immediately be reached for comment.
