It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

Tweet of a "skull breaker"

A new dangerous trend taking over TikTok is now making headlines as parents across the globe warn of the severe harm it can cause. The “skull breaker challenge” originated in Spain when two students began to film themselves executing the seemingly harmless move with an unsuspecting third participant. The trend captures three individuals standing in a row before jumping straight up. While the middle person is in the air, the two on the sides kick inwards to knock them off of their feet and onto their head. However, its dangers quickly became evident as the middle participant continued to become the victim of injuries to the head, neck and wrist. At least two children in the United States have been hospitalized after attempting the challenge. One viral video out of Colombia, in particular, demonstrated how a person can sustain an injury from the stunt — dubbed “Rompecráneos” in Spanish, meaning skull cracker — when the student fell onto the back of his head on the ground outside of his school. Although the video has since been removed from social media, the video is archived on Twitter. Administrators of the school where it took place also took to social media to condemn it.

“Recently, a video has been made viral on social networks, in which some baccalaureate students of our institution are exposed, making a game where the ... physical integrity of one of the young people would allegedly be put at risk. In the aforementioned video, the badge of the College is clearly distinguished, whose symbol represents the institutions,” one of the school’s tweets, translated in English, reads.
Despite the injuries that some international outlets reported, the school did not address any serious harm caused by the stunt, other than “the alarm that the events occurred may cause.” Still, the statement goes on to say, “the parties involved (the students with their respective representatives) were summoned to the Directorate of the College to initiate the corresponding procedures, attached to the relevant legal provisions.”
The Feb. 4 statement didn’t prevent the trend from spreading, as it became popular in India, the United Arab Emirates and the U.S. Now, parents in the U.S. are doing their part to shed light on the severity of the stunt by posting warnings attached to photos of their injured children on Facebook.

“I really contemplated posting this, but I feel there needs to be awareness of this malicious cruel viral prank,” Arizona mother Valerie Hodson wrote on Facebook about her young son who was tricked in the stunt by two friends. “He landed hard flat on his back and head, as he struggled to get up he lost consciousness, he fell forward landing on his face. The school monitor ran to his side, all the while the 2 boys were snickering and laughing as his stiff unconscious body lay on the asphalt. Fast forward at the hospital, he has a head injury, stiches [sic] in his face, severe cuts inside his mouth and 2 front teeth I have to keep on eye on. This apparently is a Tik Tok viral prank being filmed and gaining likes on social media.”
Days later, a mom in Alabama posted a similar warning, this time asking for prayers for her son who had to get surgery on his wrist as a result of the TikTok prank.

“The safety and well-being of our users is a top priority at TikTok,” a TikTok spokesperson tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “As we make clear in our Community Guidelines, we do not allow content that encourages, promotes, or glorifies dangerous challenges that might lead to injury, and we remove reported behavior or activity that violates our guidelines. To help keep our platform safe, we have introduced a slate of safety features geared towards enhancing our users’ experience, including tools for reporting inappropriate content and for managing privacy settings.”
Videos of the skull breaker challenge on TikTok have been replaced by “skull saver” challenges, in which users are reenacting the challenge without the hazardous kick, as well as public service announcements about the dangerous stunt.
According to Nathan Richards, MD, a physician who specializes in internal medicine and pediatrics at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, both outcomes were better than the irreversible damage that can occur. The skull breaker challenge, he tells Yahoo Lifestyle, can even be fatal.
“The skull breaker challenge is an emerging prank being propagated on social media that results in forceful trauma to the head and neck area. It can be associated with a variety of serious and even life-threatening injuries including, but not limited to, bruising, hematoma, skull fracture, neck strain, neck fracture, concussion and long term complications of concussion, bleeding in or around the brain, loss of consciousness, paralysis, and death,” Richards explains. “Although it can seem like a harmless prank to children and adolescents, they should be educated on the potential serious consequences of doing the skull breaker challenge.”
Denise Klinkner, MD, a pediatric surgeon at the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center in Rochester, Minnesota adds that the person in the middle of the stunt will likely become injured even if prepared for what it entails. “In spite of knowing this is the intent, the falling teen rapidly lands without blocking the fall, leading to at minimum a concussion,” she says. “If one is able, an outstretched hand to block the fall may lead to a broken wrist or arm.”
As for why children and teens continue to take part in these challenges despite knowing the potential danger, Sabrina Sykes, PhD, a psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center writes that it’s all about the “wow factor.”
“New online challenges routinely spring up and rapidly spread over social media, particularly among adolescents and young adults,” Sykes explained in a blog post about the appeal of online challenges. “Social media, in turn, offers instant popularity among peers in the form of ‘likes’ and ‘followers,’ providing peer acceptance, buoying the teen’s self-concept and, therefore, enhancing the draw to participate in these challenges.”
She went on to credit the still-developing prefrontal cortex for an adolescent’s inability to manage their impulses or make responsible decisions, working in tandem with the very real fear of missing out. “This means teens are highly motivated to engage in socially rewarding behavior and gravitate toward thrill-seeking, without focusing on potential risks or consequences,” she wrote.
Still, parents and adults can intervene in their teen’s online behavior, according to Sykes, and take part in productive conversations that can improve a child’s judgment.
“Parents should familiarize themselves with social media platforms and engage their teen in conversations about online challenges,” Sykes’ post reads. “Remember that while teens continue to grow and navigate social relationships, through these conversations parents can foster the development of thoughtful and rational thinking skills, while also maintaining connection.”
Contrary to what you might think, the teacher was not black.

White House Wedding Coverage Shows Just How ‘Civil’ Journalists Really Are

February 20, 2020 By Christopher Bedford

Americans were treated to another delightful little peek at the cherished civility of our national press corps this week, when news broke that a longtime White House aide married the vice president’s press secretary.
Stephen Miller and Katie Waldman wed Sunday in Washington. The president attended, and by all accounts it was a wonderful party for the happy couple. We might think young love in the midst of so much political warfare is a cause for celebration among a press corps that pines for a return to norms of civility daily.
The New York Times broke the story with a largely straight-forward wedding announcement that made passing reference to the groom’s hawkish immigration politics. The author must have forgotten an even-handed approach toward an administration official is a dereliction of duty in modern journalism, and their colleagues were having none of it.
“Stephen Miller’s New York Times wedding announcement sparks backlash,” The Guardian’s Luke O’Neil reported above an appeal that readers donate to preserve the “civility… the Guardian holds dear.”
“The truth is that U.S. immigration policy is no laughing matter,” he continued on the news story about a wedding.
Head on. Apply directly to the forehead. Head on. Apply directly to the forehead. Head on. Apply directly to the forehead.
Veteran Huffington Post reporter Christopher Mathias called it “a massive abdication of journalistic duty to publish a normalizing announcement of his wedding in @nytimesvows, and to publish said announcement with no mention that he’s a white nationalist.”
“God help us,” CNN’s Ana Navarro wrote of the celebration. “It’s going to procreate.” #StephenMillerWedding was even trending on Twitter. The results reflect poorly on his critics — Navarro and Mathias’s tweets pale in comparison.
Politico’s wedding write-up from Rishika Dugyala included all the classic musts — the venue, an old picture of the pair, the president’s attendance — plus a little more: Democratic attacks calling Stephen a white nationalist, left-wing talking points about a “Muslim ban,” and mention of the “‘zero-tolerance’ family separation policy” that’s the historic norm at the border.
But the groom wasn’t the only villain here, because as a Trump administration spokeswoman, the bride has defended its policies in public. Katie, our intrepid reporter writes, “was also previously the spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, where she defended the administration’s family separations policy and made some controversial comments about immigrants.”
Not to be outdone, Hayley Miller of The Huffington Post wrote up Stephen’s deranged and estranged uncle, who sought to hurt his nephew by giving political press statements about donating to a refugee organization. “Glosser, an outspoken critic of Miller’s anti-immigrant agenda, wrote on his Facebook post that he planned to donate to HIAS, a Jewish American nonprofit organization that provides humanitarian aid and assistance to refugees.”
“Outspoken critic” must be journalist for retired doctor estranged from his own sister, Stephen’s mom. It was, reporter Hayley says, “the perfect ‘wedding gift’ to honor the newlyweds.”
Tom Porter of Business Insider and John Bowden of The Hill ran with HuffPo’s big scoop because that’s our media, folks. “Class shade,” Hareetz opinion editor Esther Solomon tweeted, lauding the familial gadfly.
Good jokes. Lots of back-slaps. All in agreement.
It’s all a far cry from the Huffington Post wedding headlines of yore, like “President Obama Was One Dapper Groomsman At His Aide’s Wedding,” but this is a new age and the media is standing for civility in American politics.
Of course none of that is true. It’s all just a veneer to hiss and lash at conservatives in Washington. Fortunately for the public, they’re barely trying to hide it anymore.

After the Clinton bodycount here comes the Obama bodycount. https://www.redstate.com/elizabeth-...nistration-whistleblower-found-shot-to-death/
Law Enforcement Today (LET) has learned that Philip Haney, a one-time DHS whistleblower who was repeatedly dismissed by Democratic lawmakers and officials inside the Obama Administration as well as their affiliate, the mainstream media, is dead. Haney retired from the DHS in 2018 after fifteen years of service. He has appeared on both the Megyn Kelly and the Sean Hannity shows.

Haney’s job involved searching for individuals with links to terrorist groups. In a 2016 interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, he explained that on two occasions, his carefully prepared files had been “purged.” He also believed that, if the Obama Administration had maintained this database, several mass shootings, including the June 2016 Orlando, FL nightclub massacre and the December 2015 San Bernardino, CA mass shooting could have been prevented.

Although he had retired, he remained active professionally. Friends told LET that Haney was planning to go back on the road in advance of the election. He’d said he would be doubling down on efforts to “protect Americans from progressives, leftists and socialists.” According to LET, in 2018, he told an “Intercessors for Prayers” group he had been working on an assignment in Minnesota to stop Rep. Keith Ellison from being elected as the state’s attorney general.

Friends also doubt that he took his own life. He’d never seemed happier they told LET and was engaged to be married later this year.

Haney was the author of a book entitled “See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad” and was a founding member of DHS.

LET reports that, as of 10 am on Saturday, they had not “received independent confirmation from the Sheriff’s Department, but sources within law enforcement have verified there’s a death investigation underway.” LET’s statement said “it is unclear when it happened or how” and that “details are still emerging.”

On Friday morning, Haney’s body was discovered outside of San Francisco with a gunshot wound to the chest. His vehicle was nearby. Haney had been missing since Wednesday.

Remember when people accused Jynx of being a racist stereotpye, ignorant to the fact it was based off ganguro, or Brock was accused of being one for Asians in a Japanese cartoon?

We've come a long way when a tan tomboy character looking a few shades lighter is fucking whitewashing.

I have weeb friends who "OOF" and "yikes" at ganguro period. Because, like, omg that's not OK?! Japan is so rayciss!

Remember when people accused Jynx of being a racist stereotpye, ignorant to the fact it was based off ganguro, or Brock was accused of being one for Asians in a Japanese cartoon

Here's the thing though: The Ganguro fad happened too late for Jynx to be based on it. A recent leaked beta for Red and Green showed that Jynx was planned to be in the game pretty early on. The Ganguro fad started a few years after the beta was made. Her appearance was completely unchanged from the final version.

I'm not saying Jynx is a racist caricature, I'm just saying whatever the origin of Jynx is, it's most likely not the Ganguro fad. Since Game Freak themselves are tight-lipped, we will probably never find out

^A lot of inspiration for ganguro, among other visual-intensive Japanese fashion subcultures in the 80s and 90s, came from depictions of ghosts and other supernatural characters and troupes in traditional Japanese theater with dark skin and light hair. I'm pretty sure that would be the origin, and drawn in color with blonde hair alludes to ganguro by that time.

‘I hate white people’: Woman charged with bias crime in Portland bus stop attack

A woman faces hate crime charges after authorities say she pummeled a mother in front of her young daughter at a North Portland bus stop.

Nimo Jire Kalinle, 42, had just exited a No. 4 bus at North Fremont Street and Gantenbein Avenue on Jan. 19 when she started slugging Janae Jordan in the face repeatedly, court records allege.

During the attack, Jordan, who was with her husband and child, asked why the woman was targeting her.

“It’s because you’re white and I hate white people,” Kalinle, who is black, told Jordan, a probable cause affidavit alleges.

Kalinle was arrested and later indicted on multiple criminal counts, including a first-degree bias crime, fourth-degree assault and interfering with public transportation, court documents show.

She did not show up for a Feb. 5 arraignment, and authorities issued a bench warrant, according to court records.

Police on Sunday arrested Kalinle on suspicion of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct in a separate incident and booked her into the Multnomah County jail.

She is scheduled to be arraigned in both cases Monday afternoon.

Court records show Kalinle has previously faced criminal charges for throwing rocks through TriMet bus shelters and damaging other agency property.

North Carolina Woman Allegedly Assaulted Air Marshal, Threatened To ‘Stab Everyone On The Plane. … I’m Palestinian!’

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A North Carolina woman made her initial appearance in federal court today on charges of allegedly assaulting a Federal Air Marshal.

According to allegations detailed in the affidavit in support of the criminal complaint, on February 22, Dana Ghazi Mustafa, 27, assaulted a Federal Air Marshal on board United Airlines flight 933 that departed from Frankfurt, Germany, and landed at Dulles International Airport.

According to court documents, at some point during the flight, flight attendants were alerted to the activation of a flight lavatory smoke detector, encountered Mustafa in the lavatory and directed her to not smoke aboard the aircraft and return to her seat. After flight attendants observed Mustafa crying and visibly upset, Mustafa stated that she was flying home to see her family, but they had died in a car accident caused by a drunk driver.

After being relocated a second time, a Federal Air Marshal observed Mustafa leave her seat and walk to the rear of the plan while striking the flint of a lighter. As a flight attendant attempted to stop Mustafa from entering the lavatory, Mustafa pushed the flight attendant and tried to close the lavatory. At that time, two Federal Air Marshals interceded. Mustafa allegedly refused to comply and was combative, including resisting being handcuffed, yelling, and kicking at the Federal Air Marshals.

After being handcuffed and relocated next to a Federal Air Marshal, Mustafa stated that, “I’m going to stab everyone on this plane. Then kill myself. I’m Palestinian! That’s how we get down.”

DanaGhaziMustafa.jpg

Upon landing at Dulles International Airport, an FBI agent interviewed Mustafa about the incident, including her statement regarding her family being killed by a drunk driver. Mustafa allegedly admitted the story was a lie.

Mustafa is charged with assaulting a federal officer and faces a maximum penalty of eight years in prison, if convicted. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Mustafa is scheduled for a preliminary hearing tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the federal courthouse in Alexandra.

Oooh I found a fun one.

All students between Grades 4 and 12 at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) received an email containing racist language from a fake account on Monday, the board said.

The message contained the N-word and no other text, according to emails forwarded to CBC News by students.

"On Monday morning, two OCDSB student email accounts sent a total of four emails to all OCDSB students (grades 4-12). In one of these emails the language used was racist and offensive, and we strongly condemn this message," said OCDSB spokesperson Darcy Knoll.

Knoll said the emails have been deleted from the student accounts, but late Monday afternoon some students were still able to access the messages.

The email which contained the racial slur was from a spoofed account, Knoll said. In other words, the sender's address was used by someone else.
